Horrible, fascist and poorly acted
If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
I do dislike a vast majority of Syfy's output, and while some of them are terrible, very few are as gut-wrenchingly wretched as The Apocalypse. Absolutely nothing about The Apocalypse works apart from the fact that while it was hardly original the concept sort of intrigued me.But the story is very predictable and incoherent. Also when you're watching The Apocalypse, there are times when you feel you're on the back of a snail as the film often feels very slow. I also don't know why they bothered writing a script because I haven't heard dialogue this toe-curlingly bad in a long time. The direction is very, very sloppy, while the special effects are cheap and hackneyed and the sound muddy. The acting is some of the worst in a Syfy movie, none of them portray charisma or likability and it doesn't help that the characters are so clichéd and indifferent. All in all, not even worth the look even if you are in a good mood. 0/10 Bethany Cox
Or apocryphal, or absolute rubbish, or ... but I could go on so. I was looking around the DVD store for something to watch, not the usual crap I have been seeing lately by the Salmi brothers, and I caught this title and though I'd give it a try. What a mistake that was.Technically it stunk. I don't usually worry about this side of things but when you can't hear half of the dialogue (get to that later) it does make it hard to watch.Story wise it had promise, but this promise was waived aside after 5 minutes of viewing. We actually watched it on fast forward looking for the interesting bits (there were none). I could even live with the religious overtones but they got too damn ludicrous to put up with. But hey don't believe me, I'm sure someone else on this page has given a favourable comment - not
Well what can I say, this film is absolutely awful, I have never in my whole life seen such a pile of absolute rubbish as what this film is about Waste of time, money, story line is about as much use as a chocolate teapot, special effects are very lame and very loud, actors are all so wooden and speak so quietly, I really wouldn't bother to watch this film at all, it's not worth it, seems to me that they have tried to combine the likes of "Twister" "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon" (all superb films) and came up with this. Oh deary deary me if you really want to watch this go ahead and watch it, see for yourself how bad some films are these days. Roll on the end credits, at least then the pain and agony of the film is over.
What started out to be an interesting science fiction disaster movie with people being hit my small rocks from space soon turned into one of the worst movies I have ever seen.Time and time again the cast members dialogue consisted of talk about religion to such an extent I had to double check the credits to see if it was made by a religious film company rather then Asylum. Also the music in the movie was so loud that it constantly drowned the dialogue and made it impossible to figure out what the actors/actresses where saying, the worst part was when the guy held them at gunpoint. For sure this is a movie that could have been better if the dialogue had been more sensible rather then going off on a tangent of religious sermons.
