A Major Disappointment
A lot of fun.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
SHAOLIN DEADLY HANDS (SHAOLIN INVINCIBLE GUYS) opens with gold-toothed country bumpkin Yang (Chen Kuan Chi) looking for work with a local Triad. He has his pocket picked by Yao Fong before running into a robbery-in-progress by the Ching Li gang and foiling it. Fong catches a dealer in a gambling den cheating and promptly cleans house, then loses legitimately to Triad boss Ti Yen. Yao is desperate to buy the freedom of his 16-year-old girlfriend, Lin, from the brothel where she's stuck. Yao ends up throwing in with a gang of 5 street urchins. Yang is turned away by the Triad joins Yao and the urchins. Here, again, we have some good action and all the motivation(s) a pair of righteous avengers could ask for.
