Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

Finding your way even when you're not sure where you're going. How many times have we made plans, only to find we have to take a detour. Bonnie Somerville plays a wonderful role and there's a warm connection between her and the young "Jo" played by Madison Brydges. Maddie Duncan (played by Bonnie) sets off on a road trip after being given a Classic Red Mustang; just that thought alone would be exciting for anyone. However, there's much more to this movie; it's about unexpected change and walking away from the "on-paper-perfect-plan" of your life and stepping into a happiness that you never thought could possibly exist.

I HAVE NO AGENDAMaddie, a high-powered marketing executive, is on her way to a client's wedding but her plans are derailed by car trouble. When a fork in the road leads her to Christmas Valley, a town in love with Christmas, an unexpected encounter and a group of strangers that start to feel like family will have her questioning what she's really been missing in life. Starring Brennan Elliott and Bonnie Somerville.What was nice that this film did not make the business woman a mega you know what. They also did not make the love interest combatants or polar opposites. They even made the business woman someone likes children. Now of course the woman never thought she wanted to be a mom until she meets this one child.........Now what makes this film work is that it is self aware that we have seen this type of Christmas Film played out countless times before. What they did was they made the audience fall in love with the locals and the town itself. This film makes you want to live in the town of "Christmas Valley".Family safe. Young children will be bored. Adults with children will enjoy this nice film!

There is only one review as I write this and it misses the mark. This is an excellent happy movie. The lead actress Bonnie Sommerville is actually 42 yrs old and really reminds me of Stephanie Zimbalist in "The Story Lady" (this is a good thing). She absolutely carries the movie and interacts great with the supporting cast. Brennan Elliot plays the lead actor and it is just perfect. This movie is a home run. Kept my interest the whole time.This movie had the little touches that made it memorable. Loved when they ask the ex-encyclopedia salesman who memorized the "A" volume to define "Angel". He touches the little girls nose and says "that's easy, it is a picture of you". That was sweet. Love when Brennan Elliot says "That reindeer cost me a lot". The diner scenes were great as well. Yes the movie started in New York City, but most of it was in Ohio. Enjoy it.

Usually Hallmark hits the mark with Christmas movies, unfortunately this one misses the mark. The female lead is good, the daughter, traveling salesman and really liked the diner people and the rest of the townspeople. BUT, the male lead Kevin; there was just something annoying about him. Its too contrite a story; woman needs to learn the real meaning of Christmas and gets schooled by the Christmas tree man and his daughter in a small town. This story has been done better with actors who had better chemistry. I really liked the gas station/singer kid. I don't know if that was him actually singing, and I couldn't find anything more than this movie to his credit, so hope to see him in more things.
