A Brilliant Conflict
This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.
All that we are seeing on the screen is happening with real people, real action sequences in the background, forcing the eye to watch as if we were there.
The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
As an Edward L Cahn movie, you can guess that's not BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI or FIXED BAYONETS. But I was nevertheless surprised by the darkness of this story telling the mission of a group of GI - during WW2 - who must prevent Japanese army to penetrate into India from Burma. They are dropped by parachute and then have to get help from the natives; and in this tale it is native girls...Of course, you can guess what that means. But it's a downbeat story, very sad in the ending. I won't say more. Just one thing, the characters are not uninteresting.I recommend it.
