Sadly Over-hyped

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

OK. I'm watching this film right now and it is nearly over. I couldn't stand it any more and HAD to look and see what others thought of the film, because I just wasn't getting it.But it turns out there is NOTHING to get! I would love to talk to someone who loved this film. What did you love? Specifically, what about this film made you rate it high? My suspicion is that a good percentage of lovers of this film could NOT tell you why. I suspect they liked the film because they were "supposed" to like it. You know?The movie is called Lying. We the audience don't know what the lie is for a long time. I'm still not sure and the film is almost over. One woman is apparently deceiving the other three she's invited to her "country home" for the weekend. Now it's one thing for the audience to be in the position of the three girls; not knowing. But even when the girls figure out the lie it's STILL not clear what it is.And if it's what I think it is.... well, so what?The movie is beautifully shot. The house it takes place in is marvelous. I want to build a house just like it. The acting is good. And, it's got cool, hip and beautiful Chloe Sevign. But don't pretend to like this movie just because you don't get it, but think you should. Let all the bad reviews give you permission to be honest. And honestly, this movie is a waste of time.

OK, let me start with I love the work of Jenna Malone, Chole Segivny, and LeeLee Sobieski. And over the recent times have wonder why I haven't seen Malone and Sobieski. If people had seen them in this, might never work again, not that anything they did was bad, actually I can't say anything bad about any of the actresses in the movie. But this is a movie that just does not go anywhere. Are Malone and Gross lesbians? Is there some strange plot behind Segivnys actions? Why does one of the characters stand in a field waving what looks like metaphor flags, is she warning someone? I stayed with it to see where it was going, which was nowhere. This was made because the director got boring trying to get his real movie off the ground, "The Wait - 2011" and he had already had Malone and Segivny attached to that. The failure of this film rest totally on the director and writer (one and the same). While Malone and Segivny both seem to prefer working with independent films, why after doing this one did they follow through with the other? Maybe they know the director, owe him a favor. But after this film I would have thought they might have found a way to gracefully back out.

Although I would like to say I have seen worse films than LYING, I cannot honestly say I have. There is no inkling of a plot, nor does the movie tie together in the end. Every moment is a question of "Are they going to murder each other; does she have a name; why does it matter if she's a pathological liar; when is it going to end?" For the most part, none of these questions are even answered. Instead, the films continues on and on, into what seems like eternity, and finally ends with no much as a summation, future events, or any other detail that would help a person understand why four women spent 3 days together drinking, exchanging awkward glances, and lying to each other about their histories. Maybe that is why the film is called LYING.

I am giving this movie a 2 because it had good set design and the make up artists did a pretty good job.This movie was awful, my girlfriend wanted to rent it and I would not bother writing a bad review if it was just some chick flick but this is not the standard girls get together and discover themselves or learn to love each other. Nothing happens in this movie, the interaction is dry and frankly unbelievable, everyone acts like they are on some kind of hardcore anti-depressant.Honestly the people who like this movie are the people who have never seen a good art film before. The scene with the babies was pretty funny but other than that this film cheated to get that 5.8 rating it has because no one in their right mind could rate this as a 10 unless they are trying to bump its rating up.You will feel blue-balled after watching this movie
