No Jardim
In a sunny open air setting with a background of high, deep foliage trees, and a white-walled storeyed house, an acrobat with light shirt and trousers and white plimsolls is doing acrobats in a trapeze in the center of the area. Behind it, a pair of men in similar dress seem to be carrying barbells from one place to the other, rather then exercising with them.

Fantastic!
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Another experiment from Portuguese pioneer Aurélio da Paz dos Reis, among his 35 other films all directed in 1896. The man who brought the film experience to Portugal presents in "No Jardim" ("In the Garden") one acrobat in the foreground doing some acrobats in a trapeze (impressive movements and even more impressive the way it was filmed cause it feels like a visual effect despite the old-standard still cameras) and other acrobats performing other things in the background. And again, another important historical treasure from Portugal's cinema still existing and available. No more than that. Holds a nice quality, the images, but it's just another experimentation the director wanted to see what he could get with his camera. Thumbs up! 7/10
