One of my all time favorites.
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Excellent but underrated film
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
CONTAINS SPOILER Well firstly I'm a massive fan of the film Blair Witch project, i first saw it when it was out at the cinema and i thought it was excllent, really scary and to this day i don't think any other horror film has come close to being as cleverly done ( the marketing was genius!) I first saw the curse of the Blair witch on the bonus footage of the DVD of the Blair witch.I was utterly gripped! It was so incredibly eerie it really put the jitters up me (i might add i'm not easily spooked and i was watching it in broad daylight too!).Even from the opening sequence i got chills up my spine, everything about this documentary is spot on for me, even down to the female narrators voice.I thought it very clever how they continued with the whole "this is a true story" angle. I enjoyed the back stories of Eileen Treacle who was dragged into the river by an unseen entity and the letters to the sheriff who supposedly refused to believe there were paranormal reasons behind the students disappearance.I actually found this documentary scarier than the film itself. An absolute must see for Blair witch fans! 13 years after the film was made and i still get shivers down my spine!
I liked "The Blair Witch Project"--didn't scare me, but the young woman who was the star did a fine acting job."Curse of the Blair Witch" however was, I thought, rather poorly done. It didn't work for me as a even briefly convincing "documentary." The "70s Hippy witch" was unintentionally funny and contradicted himself, the Murderer was not much of an actor and there were so many discrepancies that it just wasn't convincing at all. For example: early on in the film there is a short interview with a middle-age guy in Burkettsville, supposedly done by the Lost Teens, in black and white then an interview with the same guy, supposed done a year later--he was wearing the same shirt and his hair had not changed a bit. One of the faked letters, supposedly written in the 1830s by a not-very-literate person of Burkettsvile contained the word "fetish." The word was not generally known in the English language at the time.
If I didn't know the whole Blair Witch Legend was fake, I would have entirely believed this. Actually, until I found out the legend was fake, I did believe this was all real. It all looks so real. The news footage, the historical documents, everything. It is all very professionally done. Ed Sanchez and Dan Myrick created one of the most ingenius ideas of our time. Their movie, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT is bound to become a horror legend for many, many years to come. And then there will be this documentary to commemorate it, and to make all those future fools believe the whole movie was real.CURSE OF THE BLAIR WITCH gets 5/5.
I recently saw BWP and thought, "Finally! Someone has relied on raw human emotion as a fear factor!" As a teenager I enjoyed slasher flicks but was never scared (probably due to the outlandishness of it all), but this movie really got my adrenaline going! Warning: every single minute of this movie is NOT scary, but the 3 or 4 "scary" scenes make this a worthwhile film. I have never seen a film that made my hands shake and heart pound! I actually felt as if I was "with" them - not just looking in on them. As for the critics who claimed that other theater-goers were laughing: they were. Mike was a very comical guy at times! These critics who misinterpreted the laughter are probably the ones who "didn't get the ending" (or the movie in general) because they weren't paying attention!! As for the ending just remember it is vital that you pay attention to the beginning of the film! Remember: you are at a theater - not at home - there is no rewind!
