Such a frustrating disappointment
After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
Affliction by MSF is a heartbreaking documentary about the real world, Ebola in West-Africa. Through the eyes of the people working in the Ebola-area and the affected communities, you can see the consequences of an enormous Ebola out brake in underdeveloped countries. The incomprehension between the locals and the humanitarian workers is captured in a breathtaking way. The fear of the community, who thought the 'white men' were infecting them. The superstitiousness towards the aid workers that can finally be taken away by collaboration between the village leaders and MSF by education and raising awareness. An absolute recommendation.
