Reviews
I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Overrated and overhyped
It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
I'm seventeen and I still love the Butter Cream Gang. YES--the lines in the movie are cheesy--but if you take a hard look you'll see what the movie is promoting. It's trying to convey the idea of respecting each other--loving and being thankful for who we were. Pete would not have turned around and become a better person again if it hadn't been for Scott and his friends. WATCH THE MOVIE--it is a wonderful movie--especially if you're sick of your kid just watching sex, violence, and cussing on the TV--I highly recommend this movie! I hate to see people being so mean about this movie. It's sad. Finally a move comes out that doesn't promote sex, drugs, or violence and it's dubbed cheesy. How unfair. Feature Films For Families isn't just some 'nutcase religious group'-they are a company that promote strong morals and values. What's so wrong with that?
I am 26 and saw this movie for the first time about 10-12 years ago. I absolutely loved it. I completely agree that it is totally sappy sweet, but if you like sappy sweet heartwarming stories, this is a good movie! :) It's also a great movie for younger kids (8- 12?) who aren't quite jaded yet and may still enjoy the movie without thinking it is stupid. I think that is a good age to deliver this movie's message anyway. If you try to force your teenagers to watch this movie, they will likely just make fun of it.Sidenote - There is also a really pretty song in it (I believe it plays when the two boys are having a "memories" day, but I'm not sure. It's been a long time since I've watched it).
It's been a while since I've seen this movie, but it was always one of my favorites. It was primarily filmed in Draper City, Utah, which is where I spent a lot of my childhood days playing. I used to go out in the same fields, parks, and streets as the movie portrayed. I even went down to the tree house that is shown in the movie. If you've seen this movie, you are probably familiar with Draper City, since Utah is where this film was primarily marketed, as one of the feature family films treasures. If you liked this one, another one I would recommend would be `On Our Own', released in 1988. This was also distributed by F.F.F., and is a pretty good movie too.
Don't get me wrong - I believe in morals, but this movie gives them a bad name. A good moral is no excuse to make a bad movie. Someone made this film to teach kids the value of good deeds and unconditional friendship, but it's so badly put together that nobody's going to associate that message with anything good. What really did it for me was the idea that a good small-town kid (who looks plenty old enough to be somewhat set in his values) could go off to the city and almost immediately come back with a new fashion statement, a bad attitude, and a very unconvincing stereotypical urban bad boy accent. Sheesh, at least avoid insulting our intelligence by allowing several years for this transformation.
