Redundant and unnecessary.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
I love Hayden Pantierre - she is a cute little preppy actress who seems to put off a very beautiful and positive aura. What a great choice as the lead character. Hayden plays Britney, a privileged girl; captain of her cheer leading squad - but she is forced to leave the school and go to an urban school where she is snow in a dark pot. Her first run in with Solange Knowles character is not good - Britney is definitely a ditz. But with the help of new friends - she gains something to cheer about. There is a lot of drama in this movie but it is interesting enough to watch. Hayden slowly discovers her own rhythm and even a new romance (Oops, better not let her boyfriend know). Anyhow, Check it out - if you liked the first one - you will like this one too.
By my count the original 2000 "Bring It On" has spawned 4 additional movies, and at least this one seems to be a direct-to-video. The phrase "Bring It On" is used a number of times as a sort of challenge, if you have the stuff then 'bring it on.' It is a silly fluff of a movie, and most of the girls seem unusually rude and confrontational, which may make for a lot of action but frankly doesn't do justice to the fine boys and girls in most of our schools.Hayden Panettiere is the star as Britney Allen, the head cheerleader for the best cheering squad in Southern California. She is brash and demanding. But one day when she gets home her parents tell her dad has lost his job and will need to take a new one a distance away in a less luxurious part of California. This makes for some of the more inventive humor in the movie."But dad, won't that be a very long commute to work?" Dad tells her they are moving there. "Oh, I'll miss you guys so much." Then dad tells her "We are all moving there." Britney doesn't take it very well. When she gets to her new school, with a high percentage of black and Hispanic students she immediately doesn't fit in. Solange Knowles (Beyonce's little sister) is Camille , the head cheerleader at the new school. There is immediate friction. And that is really what the whole movie is about. The friction between the cheer squad, and the old school, and a competition to see which will get a coveted gig. I like Panettiere and she is really good here, doing as much with the script as she can. But it is just another teen angst diversion.
I expected this movie to be stupid. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. While it isn't exactly Oscar-worthy, this film entertained me for an hour and a half, which after all is the point of entertainment. The storyline is predictable, and most of the characters are one-dimensional. But the cast, led by the adorably cute Hayden Panettiere, manages to pull it off in a fun way without resorting to foul language or gratuitous sex. The script never takes itself too seriously, and the actors seem to realize that the story (such as it is) is simply to bridge between the cheerleading performances. Those are phenomenal, and a joy to watch. If you enjoy watching a group of very attractive young women and men performing some wonderfully choreographed and very athletic routines, then this movie will hold your interest. This was my first time seeing Hayden Panettiere, and I was impressed. Most of the rest of the performers, including Beyonce Knowles younger sister, provide similar eye candy. I don't know if I will ever watch this again, but I'm glad I saw it this time.
I'd say this was a so-so movie, worse than the first movie and better than the second movie. The movie begins with Brittany's life as cheer captain. As her high school life is at it's peak she is forced to relocate to a neighborhood closer to her father's job. Throughout the movie there is slight racial tension, which I think that the movie could have done with out. And of course, much like the first two movies there's a sort of "forbidden love interest".Overall, it's an entertaining movie, but I wouldn't expect for it to win any awards based on content.
