The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

After reading the reviews I felt like the movie needed more positive ones as well. It's a cute romantic comedy about a struggling coffee shop owner. Yes, it's predictable (as in every hallmark-type movie) who she would end with (a really handsome actor, by the way, googled him but sadly he has made not many movies) and the conflict maybe is a little foney, but still it was pleasant to watch. If you're looking for a sweet romance without much deepness to entertain yourself, this one can be a good option.

Going in to this movie, I wasn't really expecting much, so in that sense the movie delivered on its promise. But the synopsis, while simple enough, made me think it would at least be a bit entertaining. Not so much. It was like painting a room beige: nothing wrong with it exactly, but not really satisfying either. The coffee shop set is actually the best part of the movie, it looks like every coffee shop should look. But there are several things that just made this unsatisfying. The characters were so stereotyped that they looked like they stepped onto the stage of a high school play. The plot was simple to the point of being uninteresting. If so many people would show up for Donovan's fundraiser and tribute then why didn't she have more customers so her shop wouldn't be in financial trouble in the first place? At the tribute supposedly everyone was going on and on about her good qualities as a person, but at no time in the movie were any of these actually displayed through her actions. She was obviously lip-synching during the song, but my real pet peeve about this movie was this: the movie took place in a small town in Alabama (you could read the state name on the top of her foreclosure notice) yet not one single person in the whole movie had a southern accent. Not a single one. It could have just as easily taken place in Iowa except for the oceanfront scenes. That isn't really a small detail, it just fits in with the whole feel of the movie, one that looks like it didn't really try too hard to put any depth into the plot. And there was the kernel of a good plot there, but it was wasted. I would not advise spending time watching this unless you are having trouble falling asleep.

As a lover of romantic comedies, this one is not great. I wasn't aware that this was a Christian theme movie when I started watching it, but it began to exhibit the copy/paste feel of a Hallmark movie, so when I went to check out reviews (because maybe I was just being cynical), I was not surprised - made-for -Christian movies tend to be poor imitations, borrowing (a kinder term than it deserves) from superior romantic comedies. I have absolutely nothing against creating a family-friendly movie, but the lack of realism in this film is a moving testament to how people wish the world is, rather than reality, which made it very difficult to even finish the film without multiple eye rolls. The acting is good for the most part - the female lead is beautiful and has charisma, but is almost too beautiful/do-good-er to be realistic in this role. The actress portraying her sister is quite wooden. The best acting of the bunch actually came from Kevin Sorbo, so color me surprised there. I really wanted to love this movie - it's been such a long time since I've seen a good Rom-com and I am a sucker for a coffee/tea romance, but sadly this was not it. The plot too contrived and clichéd, the acting too high-school theater, and its worst flaw is that it was dully predictable.

A sweet movie. It's a fun, romantic and uplifting movie. The performances are subtle and touching. I also loved the music. The film has a great look -- very well shot. It also has an inspirational quality to it. Laura Vandervoort is a terrific actress and I also liked the supporting actors.
