Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Blistering performances.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
This was an interesting short: It was directed by Rebecca Sugar (Who is mostly known for her work on "Adventure Time") and I particularly see it as some sort of throwback to the surreal cartoons from the early nineties (Like for example, "The Ren & Stimpy Show" and the first "Rugrats" episodes)It is mostly an exercise of style over substance, with the visual elements being more important than the narrative, but I honestly think that the final result is good enough to be worth-watching. The design of the main character reminded me a little the works of John Kricfalusi.Even when "Singles" isn't a masterpiece, I think that anyone who enjoys surreal and strange animations will find this to be watchable, at least.
