It is a performances centric movie
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Coyote needs to buy food with the money he has or finds. Instead of the Acme products that fail to catch the Roadrunner as he does day in and day out.Plus he will never, ever learn to catch the fast and clever bird. You do have to give him credit for keeping on trying no matter what and for always being at it.Gags like the cement gag which the Roadrunner goes right on through, and trying to get the Roadrunner a blonde date. By going in drag as they all end up failing him.Still it is sad and funny at the same time where the Coyote is smart but not that smart in capturing the one thing that will always keep eluding him no matter what...THE ROADRUNNER!
This is not the best Roadrunner vs. Coyote cartoon, but it is not the worst as there is fun to be had. The ending is not the best there is I admit, but there is enough to enjoy. Also while there are one or two predictable gags, there are some that do completely take you by surprise. The animation quality is colourful and crisp, the music doesn't fall into the danger of being repetitive and annoying, the pacing is fine and Coyote is once again devious and cunning.Overall, it isn't a masterpiece of a cartoon, but it works well enough and has enough interest to maintain possible re watches.8/10 Bethany Cox
It's amazing the number of ploys that Wile E. Coyote tries - and has backfire - in just a s six- and-a-half half minute cartoon. The beating the poor guy takes each time is unbelievable, but have you seen a more determined character in a cartoon? One that doesn't let defeat discourage him? I'd like to see him win, just one time.In this cartoon, he gets blasted by not just one, but two big trucks, along with an assortment of other things including the ever-present anvil. For some reason, I laughed loudest at the quick-drying cement routine. This cartoon is part of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 2, and can be seen on disc 2.
The third pairing of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner is still good and features many gags that work, including the Coyote dressing up as a woman hitch-hiker, a hot-air balloon, and the old paint a road gag. The ending is a tad too much like the ending to the first cartoon, but I can simply watch ANY cartoon with the pairing of these two and be endlessly entertained every single time. It's something that I can't truly explain to anyone who isn't a fan. But those who get it know what I'm talking of. This animated short can be seen on Disc 2 of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 2.My Grade: A-
