This documentary is an informal portrait of the great modern composer Igor Stravinsky. Proudly American, though still very much an Old World figure with a long and alert memory for people and events in music, literature and art, Stravinsky is depicted here conducting the CBC Symphony Orchestra in a recording of his Symphony of Psalms.

In 1989, this film was granted the jury award at the Holland Animation Film Festival. (filmcommission.nl)

JFK: The Three Miles
JFK: The Three Miles
A new, Irish documentary directed by Galway native Pamela Finn.In June 1963, President John F. Kennedy made a visit which would change America and the rest of the world’s perception of Ireland forever. Kennedy referred to his visit to Ireland as “the best four days of his life”. One of those days, June 29th, was spent in Galway, known for its long winding promenade, beautiful beaches and traditional Gaeltacht culture of music, dancing and Irish language. Told through the eyes of residents who were present on the day, the film recalls the euphoric excitement felt within the local community. Nobody in Galway had ever experienced such privilege before, nor had they felt such an atmosphere, and they’d certainly never met someone as famous as the President of the United States.

It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
