Such a frustrating disappointment
best movie i've ever seen.
A different way of telling a story
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
I am an Aussie and don't mind films from Old Blighty however this was mediocre at best. It was Bollocks which is bad and not "The Dogs Bollocks" which is good. The narrator at the start went on for too long setting the scene for something the did not quite happen. The Accident Man who made a living making it look like an accident and had "Transporter" type rules, really did not do it much in the end. He just beat the crap out everyone that pissed him off. Rules, hey what rules. One of the rules was not to beat up a certain guy he worked with and that was broken too!Scott Adkins is indeed a brilliant fighter and his kicks were technical and brutal so enjoyable to watch. Some opponents such as Jane The Ripper had no such skills, with sloppy kicks that looked more like dance moves which reminded me of Sharon Stone fighting with Arnold Schwarzenegger in total recall.I give it a 4 because its good mindless fun with action a plenty, lots of action movie cliches like a pretty girl with a Katana, but cant give it much higher because the plot and the protagonists motivation was too far fetched.
Worth watching on a Saturday night if you've got nothing else going on. Good fight scenes, crazy-ass assassins, and Ray Stevenson (who is always a treat) as an assassin/bartender/mentor with a mustache! Adkins provides his usual beatdowns and I see he even got his friend Martyn Ford a little cameo! If you into this thinking "I just want to see Adkins kick ass", then you won't be disappointed. A different reviewer opined that Adkins needs to be in better movies. I agree.
It is a surprise to see Scott Adkins kicking asses and delivering deadpan humor, but here it is. The action scenes, though spread throughout the movie are not as intense as in the Undisputed series, or any of Adkins' earlier works, yet seeing Adkins as a foulmouth antihero is refreshing. This is a well-rounded action movie with everything you would expect: martial arts, gun fights, and love scenes. Adkins' narration was great and set the tone of the movie. They could have cut out the backstory scene to make it leaner. Though the movie is not perfect, it does highlight Adkins' range as an actor, and I actually believe that if Hollywood ever needs a British version of Deadpool, Adkins is the guy! In fact, I would say this movie is kind of like the Nolanized version of Deadpool. Check for yourself.
Accident Man (2018) I watched him just because he is with Scott Adkins master of martial arts and an actor, anyway an actor who has been so far distributed in B movies, but known for his role as Boyka in the Undisputed series. The Accident Man movie reminded me of The Boondock Saints (1999) because they are similar, the theme is somewhat common, I say somewhat because they are criminals, I do not want to make a spoiler, nevertheless it does not rise to the level of 99 '.The film in this case is based on a comic book by an Englishman, probably from there arrogance and the ugly characters.A 6-shot film on the line :)
