A Masterpiece!
It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
This is definitely an awesome Green Arrow short. I am not a massive fan of the CW Arrow show but this is actually better. The voice acting is good so is the animation and character designs especially the princess is definitely the cutest of the whole short. Even though I don't get why she had brown hair in this short but blonde in the young justice episode Coldhearted. But the only question is who will take care of her now since the guards are dead and her uncle count vertigo tried to kill her but Black Canary stopped him. Also are Black Canary and Green Arrow going to get married or something?I wish there was an animated movie with same voice actors and animation with 1h:30min format.
At an airport, the Emerald Archer must protect a young princess from assassins. Before he played Damien Darhk in CW's Arrow Neal McDonough played Oliver Queen in this short and awesome DC Showcase Arrow film that even tho it's 12 minutes long has enough action to please even the hardest DC Fans and Merlyn also making a guest appearance as one of the main villains plus Black Canary arrives and kicks some serious butt and Oliver asks her to marry him. Charming, Funny and Action Packed this Short DC Film should been seen from more people and get a higher score than it already has. Green Arrow gets an A+ and a 10 out of 10 i absolutely loved it.
But this is not really the fault of director Joaquim Dos Santos, who does a fine job just like with most of the other DC Showcases. In my opinion, it's the writer's fault. That love story was not interesting at all and they had to include it early on and also at the ending that Green Arrow actually relies on his girlfriend to save him and the Queen. Apart from that, it's a decent short film. Queen going against Merlyn was nicely done and Vertigo also added some nice aspects to this film. However, two villains was almost too much for this running time of slightly over 10 minutes. There are some familiar names in the cast, most of all Malcolm McDowell of course, but also Ariel Winter ("Modern Family") and Neil McDonough should be known to many. However, there was no real greatness in this short film unfortunately. My favorite from the collection still stays Jonah Hex and I also think the Superman short is better, but "Green Arrow" is still better than the "Catwoman" short film. Spectre I have not seen yet, but I will soon. As for "Green Arrow" taking everything into account I hoped for more and cannot recommend it unlike some of the other Showcases.
It may only be 11 minutes long, but it manages to capture the essence of Green Arrow in no time at all. At to that a plot with is simple but very effective. Green Arrow must protect a princess from assassins at an airport. DC may be screwing up their live action films, but at least this shows that not all hope is lost. The animation is fairly standard, but the action scenes are fluid and easy to follow. There's a lot of tension for only 11 minutes, and I kind of wish this had been a climax to a live action blockbuster. Could be a super-hero Die Hard movie. But then again, Green Arrow has too many similarities with other superheroes, unless he is directly compared to them by being in their same universe.
