Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

I understand what the director and writers were trying to do, really I do, and the Colombian soldiers or whichever S.A. country they were from were very collective and looked really like soldiers, well to someone who has never been in an military service. But nothing ever happens. The production company could have hired some 2nd graders to make some paper mache aliens or something. It never reaches any focal point. It looks very promising sometimes, in some moments you think something cool will happen. But it never does. This movie would have had so much audience and so much potential, but I have to say this, don't waste your life on watching this movie.

****Contains spoilers**** Despite all the bad reviews, as a fan of sci-fi i decided to watch this movie. I have to give credit to the bad comments in several aspects, not seeing anything but 1.5 seconds of the right leg of the alien's mechanoid was a bit frustrating, the lack of amusement of the crew when they've met the alien ship too, in fact the lack of military behavior in most of the film but very specially in that part is almost unbearable. Speaking of military stuff... even if it is a civilian reporter going on a routine patrol, every and all members of the party ALWAYS wear military uniforms, not a bright yellow jacket in middle of the jungle, but i want that jacket, it never got dirt! :-D The movie has several funny situations for those willing to see them, like that one previously stated. One that took a laugh off me, maybe because i've spent almost 30 years of my life as photographer, was to see the guy recording the soldier with a 400mm lens while being less than 2 meters away LOL But! The movie has a nice way to generate tension and one is many times waiting to see what will happen next, sadly in most cases it is left to the viewer's imagination, as the film wont show it.I think, or i want to think, that this movie was made on a notoriously low budget, if so it is quite remarkably well done, the footage scenes has more proximity with what real combat footage is than many would recognize. Camera shaking is all around, as many stated before myself, but that is part of real footage, unless you use a well-known-brand of action sports video cameras the shaking will be there and there is close to nothing to be done about it, changes in exposure due to uncontrolled environment are well represented in the movie as well Now, if there would be any part of the movie i could cut-off that would be the epilogue. Firstly it wasn't really necessary to explain anything, secondly it would have saved the film from it's biggest mistake: No one can do a DNA analysis in middle of the jungle, without a sophisticated lab and in such short time! lol OK, now that I'm done writing this, i want to watch the movie again. If not anything, i think it is quite inspiring for many to try and roll their own movie on this style, quite few will succeed and earn a lot of satisfaction, but i guess most will earn a new respect for this movie after failing at it.

I cannot believe I just wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this slow-as-molasses piece of complete and utter soul-suckingly boring crap. I started to fall asleep about an hour in, because watching a group of people walk nearly silently through the jungle without really saying or doing anything remotely interesting peppered randomly with interjections by the military to "get down", "move," or "go, go go," got old really quickly. Seriously, all of the walking through the jungle scenes could have been (should have been?) left on the cutting room floor, because they certainly didn't contribute to character development or drive the plot. Oh, that's right, there is essentially no plot to this film. The very painfully boring, extremely poorly acted story can be summarized thusly: People walk through the jungle quietly and always on high alert. Military men whisper orders to "get down", "move," "keep the noise down," or "go" every few minutes. A random Mennonite farm appears. The group explores a creepy cave where an archaeologist and a mechanical spider creature (the alien). The soldiers freak out and waste about 1,000 rounds of ammo trying to kill this thing for the next 4 days. The group is quickly killed off one by one over the 4 day span as the creature blows them up with its green signal flares of sparkly doom. Then, the short epilogue plays, which is all of 30 seconds, revealing the reason why the movie is entitled Alien Origin (Because, up to now, there has been absolutely nothing in the story to legitimize the title.): Humans share 70% of their DNA with mechanical spider creatures (aliens), thus the mechanical spider creatures are our "alien origin." Dun-dun-DUNNNNNNN! So, yeah friend, I just wasted 90 minutes of my spare time to watch this movie that could have been 90 seconds long and taught me just as much. Super lame sauce! I want that portion of my life back.

This is the worst movie I have seen in a long time, it will make you sick if you just watch it due to the camera operation. I wouldn't watch it if someone loaned it to you. This is two hours of my life that I will never get back and I feel dumber for watching it. I would have enjoyed the movie if it had stayed in the ship longer and I noticed how they blurred it to avoid you seeing the plumbing in someones basement. I can honestly say that anyone can put out a movie these days and this one didn't even make a B-movie list for me. Don't get me wrong I love any kind of Sci-Fi but this was not even that. They try to pass it off as a documentary and some lost footage so don't walk RUN!!!!!
