So much average
Load of rubbish!!
best movie i've ever seen.
It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Why make an Australian film in Canada with American actors, I would have acted for free, at least you would have one dinky di Australian actor
RELEASED TO TV in early 2013 and directed by Zach Lipovsky, "Tasmanian Devils" chronicles events on the Australian island when a group of American base-jumpers inadvertently spawn several amped-up Tasmanian devils from folklore. The Americans team-up with three rangers to (try to) survive. The low scores are inexplicable (with a 3.6/10 average on IMDb) in light of the fact that this is a competent monsters-in-the woods survival/horror/adventure flick. Sure, the diverse cast is no-name, except for Danica McKellar (best known, of course, for her role as Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years), and the CGI creatures are decidedly cartoony, but "Tasmanian Devils" otherwise delivers the goods as a suspenseful, gory creatures-on-the-loose TV picture with breathtaking forest locations. Danica is super-cute, as usual, but she'd be sexier if she gained at least 15 lbs. Australians complain about the accents, but the Australians in the movie sounded Australian to these ears. Another nitpicker complained about the Gerry-rigged flame thrower. Seriously? THE MOVIE RUNS 86 minutes and was shot in British Columbia. WRITER: Brook Durham. ADDITIONAL CAST: Kenneth Mitchell & Mike Dopud emerge as the most prominent base jumpers. Winter Olympian gold-medalist Apolo Ohno has a small role. GRADE: B
I honestly don't know why I keep taking chances on movies made for the SyFy network. Well, sometimes I am in the mood for low budget horror, but I've seen plenty of low budget horror movies that were a lot more engaging than "Tasmanian Devils". The fact this was a Canadian production just makes things worse, not limited to the fact that they try to pass off the British Columbian wilderness as the wilderness found in Tasmania. Even though I've never been to Tasmania, I know the backdrop of the movie was just plain WRONG. I might have been able to excuse that had the rest of the movie been engaging, but it isn't. The story and characters you have seen in plenty of other movies before, and you'll be able to predict much of what happens before it does. The idea of (mutant) Tasmanian devils being the monster did have promise, but they are rendered by very unsatisfying CGI. In short, the only audience that there could be for this movie would be for people who have never seen another movie in their life, so they wouldn't be able to compare it to other (and better) movies.
My partner and I watched this film in horror as we being Australians we were wondering were the Australian actors were ? As in my life time I have never heard of such a pathetic excuse for an Aussie accent as portrayed by the actors ! Tasmania is a beautiful wilderness state but we sure as hell don't have that landscape in our country not even close !!Sci Fi what the !!!! this is a surely a comedy and ranger in Australia covers up their boobs or would fall out of the tree in winter without a jacket Im sure for such a big national park we there would be more staff than 3 on duty and as for Aboriginal drawings this is a disgrace to their culture !!!!!!!! As for a safety hut what no radio in sight !!!!! what a pathetic excuse to even have reference to Australia in the movie do your self a favor and NEVER watch this it will only do your head in Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi !!!
