Follow That Dream
When the Kwimper family car runs out of fuel on a new Florida highway and an officious state supervisor tries to run them off, Pop Kwimper digs in his heels and decides to do a little homesteading. He and his son Toby and their 'adopted' children—Holly, Ariadne, and the twins—start their own little community along a strip of the roadside.

good back-story, and good acting
Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
What a difference several decades makes."Throwaway tunes" from Elvis are now sentimental classics that beehive-wearers swoon to hear. At least that long list of "performer" credits seems to indicate someone is swooning over these "throw-away tunes" from Elvis P.Readily apparent from viewing this film is film industry finding its footing to prepare for a marathon of "syrupy" and "campy" do-right, Romance films to carry it through the raw and times-are-a-changing 1960's. Its subtleties in raising the state government as primarily treading on individual's rights and supporting elitism of institutions to support these violations are also valuable "nuggets". The rustic 1920's era auto evokes symbolism and pity for values from a fading generation pushed aside by modernism and industrialism--symbolized by the cold psychologist and bureaucrat focused on efficiencies and rules rather than affect and effect. The final court hearing is a hushed homage to the rebels soon to charge across campuses to strike a major cultural shift in quiet, milk-toast, suburban United States and Western civilization (centered on the former decade's "Rebel with a Tune").
This movie is in my top ten of all time. It is a pure romp! Even though you have the "bad guys" from the government to add some drama, and the fact that Elvis character "Toby" and his family are all government freeloaders, this is essentially just a feel good movie. You can read the plot from the other reviews, but it is essentially about homesteaders coming to Florida with a composite "family" and trying to make their way. This is Elvis at his best--as he was meant to be in movies--singing and romancing his way through, with a back woods innocence that Max Baer would later use as Jethro Bodine on "The Beverly Hillbillies".Enjoy this film. It is a delight!
I think that this movie was good, but not great. I like many, many movies that fall into that category. Elvis movies are like that. They're not the best movies in the universe as far as plot and all goes, but they're somehow...comforting. Maybe because we enjoyed them as kids, I don't know. I like this one, I like the innocence of the characters. The little kids in it are funny. Elvis sings some more corny but lovable songs. There are no characters that are over the top, but somehow they seem to resemble people we all know in our own life! I love the bad guys...they're not so scary! Kinda goofy and mild. All around, it's fun to watch. I like to put them on in the kitchen while I'm cooking and sing along!
Great movie. One of the best Elvis ever made. Shows a side of Elvis not many have seen. Lot of great songs. Good story line. Nothing i dislike about this movie. Wish he had done more on the same line as this one. Thats why or one of the reasons Elvis is # 1. Wish there were more movies like this. Good, clean and just a great movie for all the family. Great actors in this movie to. What more could a person want in a movie. Elvis made about 8 to 10 good movies. Some of the others were sub par i think. But he done what was given to him. And he was the greatest singer to ever step up to the Mic. Some of the actors that were in the movie are no longer with us. He had great group around him.
