Thanks for the memories!
It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Superb acting by entire cast ! If you are not a Stamos fan, you will be after watching this. He steals the performance from right under the other actors in every scene. His plays a sleazy character but does it so well that you want to root for him. Michael Leydon Campbell is so lovable - kind of a guy every girl wants but does not go for. Even the storyline about the married couple gets interesting and leaves you wanting to know what happens to them. The movie is about love / commitment from guys' point of view. And it's surprising how similar and how different it is from girls' POV. However,if you are easily offended then this movie is not for you.
This has got to be one of the stupidest movies I've ever seen. Every cliché is thrown at you as if you haven't seen them a million times before. The foul language to make us know how hip everybody is, the predictable foils in Stamos and Porzikova, the cliché "nice guys" in Reid and Scott. Nothing in this movie has any bearing on real life, because things happen all throughout the movie that would never happen in a million years in real life. The relationships in this movie have the depth of the 10 second zoo-match ups of bonobo apes. This movie looks like it was written and directed by a crew from pornography, only without all the pornography. It's like the worst episode of "Friends." You can tell this movie was created by men, and I'm embarrassed to say, it makes men look as shallow as the ladies say we are. From now on I'm going to stick with sappy "chick flick" romances as opposed to this male unfunny "sex comedy" flick, because at least the chick flicks aren't this dumb.
"Knots" a predictable sex comedy from director of no note, Greg Lombardo. It is short on both sex and comedy, but is almost worth watching because A) John Stamos is actually good in it. B) You get to see Ric Ocasek's hot, Czech wife naked and C) Tara Reid surprisingly doesn't suck in it. The down side? The sex is totally tame and it's really not very funny. The rest of the cast is serviceable. Scott Cohen (from The Gilmore Girls) and Annabeth Gish (from The West Wing) play are bored married couple and Paulina Porizkova plays a vixen that reaps hell into their lives for no good reason at all, but ultimately we don't really care about any of the characters as the screenplay limps to it's obvious, group hug conclusion. "For No Good Reason At All". That would have been a good tag line for "Knots". You have been warned.
I laughed all the way through and out loud which is a rarity for me. Funny situations, great acting, great writing. Go see it. Paulina I for sure thought would be a terrible actress, but she was the surprise of the film! Her acting was actually amazing. I mean, you have to see it to believe it, but she was so strong. I also liked the fact that Tara Reid was not overblown to be such a star in the film. She played her part and that was it. She was not focused on just because who she is. I also loved Annabeth Gish of Mystic Pizza fame, she is a very believable actress. And John Stamos was perfect for his role. The only bad thing I can say about this movie is that Tara Reid's part was probably for a girl who was not as hot as she is and some of the lines don't totally go for her, but that is really nothing. Also the end is great!
