Flying Saucers Over Istanbul
Flying Saucers Over Istanbul
Turkish sci-fi comedy from 1955. It’s recommended for fans of old Turkish movies and psychotronic cult films. It has a quite different feel than the more familiar superhero films from the country like Kilink Istanbulda, etc. It more closely resembles something like Abbot and Costello On Mars, with the addition of belly dancing. There are leotard-clad female aliens, a Plan 9-style spaceship, a Marilyn Monroe imitator. and a robot made out of a cardboard box. The leader of the female aliens tries her hand at interpretive dance. The plot, or what I can discern of it, involves a club founded by older unattractive wealthy women. The club uses sexy belly dancing to lure men in, then the womenfolk attempt to have their way with them.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

This movie is about a boy with a flair for science who discovers a trashed robot, repairs it and makes it his. Some might say the movie is just for kids only but I think adults can watch it too. There was no nudity, unnecessary violence or foul language. also, the movie had some good humor and the robot has some really cool moves. The characters were okay and there were explanations for several lines. This is a great movie to watch with your whole family without feeling uncomfortable at any scene, I was really disappointed when I saw the rating of this movie on the internet. This movie deserves better rating because the actors were great, the robot was great and it has all the necessary ingredients of being a great film. The only problem I had was at the end when everyone was dancing robot-style, they weren't good at it (but it doesn't matter).

I had no expectations when I started watching - all I knew was it was about a robot. But it was a one of the few non-animated children's movie available at the time.Basically, it's about man misusing technology and a kid rescuing the misused technology, in this case, a robot initially programmed for good but hijacked for nefarious purposes.Acting is just average in this movie. Most of the kids in this movie do not seem to have much acting experience and it shows (some of the adults don't either), but the kids you're watching this with will probably not notice. They'll most likely be oohinh and aahing over the cool robot.Typical storyline: robot invented for good, subverted for evil by no- good partner, robot damaged and found by kid, kid repairs and restores robot's, bad men chases kid and robot, kid's family is kidnapped, then rescued by robot and all ends well. Not the best family movie there is, but it is good for 90 minutes of family bonding.

This movie is made by the producers of X-Men, Iron Man, and Spider Man. You can see the same style of cinematography in this movie and also the same style of opening and closing montages. Although the credits of the movie don't indicate it, the real star of this movie is Bobby Coleman. He is a very down to earth actor, unlike most young actors who are snot-nosed brats. It is interesting that his REAL sister (Holliston - best known for "Bless The Child" with Kim Basinger and "Dinner With Friends" with Greg Kinnear and "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" with Jane Seymour) is Bobby's sister in THIS movie in which their real parents Robert and Doris also appear. Bobby has been the lead character in several movies and TV shows including: "Martian Child" with John & Joan Cusack, Anjelica Houston and Howard Hessman; "Take" with Minnie Driver; "Post Grad" with Michael Keaton and Carol Burnett; "The Last Song" with Miley Cyrus and Greg Kinnear; "Snowmen" with Ray Liotta and Christopher Lloyd; "Must Love Dogs" with Stockard Channing and Christopher Plummer; and last year he took some time off to go off on 2 expeditions to the mountains of Switzerland and the deepest, darkest, dangerous parts of the Amazon with Mike Horn - the Jacques Cousteau of the 21st Century. In "Cody The Robosapien" set in New Orleans - Bobby portrays Henry, who is quite a bit like Bobby. The movie is a fast paced roller coaster of action, without anybody being killed, and no foul language, making it a PG-13 movie for the whole family. Bobby does a great job in his acting in that he is interacting with a CGI robot that was added in the editing room. If you like the movie "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial" you will love this also. It is sort of like "E.T." on steroids. Some of the same effects used in Iron Man are used for Robosapien. I gave this movie a rating of 10, because in the genre of family films, I can't think of any film that is any better. It is safe to go to this movie without having to cover anybody's eyes or ears, or require an explanation of the birds and the bees. Little kids will love the robot, whereas older kids will relate to Bobby's character, and adults will want to trade their own kids in for Bobby.

In New Orleans, the scientist Allan Topher (David Eigenberg) of the Kinetech Laboratories develops the robot with artificial intelligence Code 328 programmed to work as rescue and search machine and to learn the human emotions. However, the president and CEO Porter (Kim Coates) intends to use the robot as a weapon to search and destroy and sells one hundred units to the dealer Esperenza (Joaquim de Almeida) for 75 million dollars. Allan opposes to Porter's intention and is fired. However, before leaving the company, he deletes his files and steals Code 328. Allan and the robot are chased by Porter's security team and in the pursuit, he loses the robot that breaks in parts in a garbage container.Meanwhile, the nerd boy Henry Montgomery Keller (Bobby Coleman) has just wined a prize for his project in the science fair of his school but he is bullied by the school bully and hides in the garbage container where the pieces of Code 328 are. Henry brings the robot home and fixes it. Then he names him as Cody and introduces him to his mother Joanna (Penelope Ann Miller) and his sister Meagan (Holliston Coleman). Cody becomes Henry's best friend and the pride and joy of the Keller family. When Henry seeks out Cody's "father", he does not know that Allan is looked on by Porter's men. When Henry and Cody meet Allan, they are hunted by the security guards. Now, Allan and Henry and his family have to find a way to save Cody and avoid the selling of one hundred robots to Esperenza. "Robosapien: Rebooted", a.k.a. "Cody the Robosapien", is a delightful movie for the whole family. I loved the adventures of Cody and his friend Henry in New Orleans. The plot is predictable but anyway I believe that viewers that appreciate the genre family entertainment will find it enjoyable. My vote is eight. Title (Brazil): Not Available
