I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

Not all of want our kids growing up on the candy floss that is Disney, or with their heads in the Puritanical sands. That being said, this is a pretty mindless movie and really just good for idle background noise. Is this a movie for incredibly young children? No, aim more for 11+ with this one, in terms of content. As far as intellectual level goes, even small children would get bored. The animation style is somewhere between Tim Burton, Jimmy Neutron, and Double Fine's video game "Psychonauts". There are some nods to Mr. Burton throughout the film, which is nice, just as it's nice to see more than one person putting out movies geared for the more Goth among us.But, and I can not stress this enough, don't expect mental stimulation from this feel-good gothy film. Expect some pretty color combinations, darker themes, and a lot of useless dialog.

The origin of this film would seems to be films of Tim Burton. The main character is a girl of high school age called Dixie. At the onset of the picture we see an early trauma in her life where mother, unhappy for a long time, informs her hubby that she is leaving him because she can no longer stand his work, he is an undertaker. Dad is the eternal optimist always upbeat always happy and always trying his best for the ones he loves. Dixie, like most teenagers, is beset with the problems of teenagers, fickle friends, unapproachable guys, and mean girls at school. After a particularly bad day at school Dad takes Dixie to the local fair to try and cheer her up, where the mean girls trick her into seeing her old best friend kissing the guy she longs for, this sends her running in a rain storm into the woods where a tree struck by lighting falls on her. She wakes up in a grave a Zombie in the world of the dead where she meets Isis and later Gonner. The three join together to open a portal back the land of the living where they can set right all that had gone wrong in their lives and at the same time thwart the evil plans of a zombie witch bent on entering the living world with her zombie army. The CG is OK, but nothing special. The voice acting adequate and professional, but again nothing special. The story could do with some major rewrites. In the Zombie world thing pop up when needed, the story does not have the feel that if the characters were not there the place would not exist. All and all not a bad film, not a film to seek out or a film to avoid, but a film to watch when nothing else is available to watch.

It may be a cartoon but - IT'S ABOUT ZOMBIES! A little parental review would tell you that it's not really for kids. If you like zombie movies, this is a cute step to the side, in a childish vein. Zombie movies are seldom rated high, so to expect a Hollywood block buster is unrealistic. Folks, it's a fun romp. I give it at least a 5.0---------------------------------------------------------Another line for IMDbAnother line for IMDbAnother line for IMDb

What is wrong with you people? Pre-school girls play with slutty Gothic Lolita Monster High dolls and are being bombarded with brainwashing twisted cartoons... And the parents - they seem to tolerate or even not to notice this cartoon catastrophe. This one obviously aims to ride that wave. And it also tries (and fails miserably) to imitate or rather to rip-off some Tim Burtonesque motifs. The animation is nowhere near good and there is nothing original in the visuals or the design of the film. Let alone the tasteless and quite often rather inappropriate scenes. If you want to protect your children from severe brain damage, please, keep this one away!
