Fresh and Exciting
Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Apart from in horror movies, is there EVER a willingness for teens to go on camping trips, in the middle of nowhere, these days? Because if there is, I'm not hearing about it. Nor do I see the appeal. You're submitting yourself to perhaps the most miserable vacation ever, with no modern amenities nearby other than a pub run by a weirdo who has a retarded serial killer as his assistant. Madness. On arriving, our intrepid group discover a room filled with what they think are fake, old snuff movies. Anyone watching these horrific films on a projector for a few minutes would be able to tell you they're the Real McCoy. But being slasher flick teens, they discount all warnings... And end up paying for it in dismembering and torture. Serves them right for choosing The Great Boring Outdoors, when Florida was calling...Carver is by no means a great film... In fact, it's almost as far from that status as is possible. But you HAVE to admire a movie which goes as far with it's gore as it does here... To the point where you're almost willing to discount the complete lack of plot or common sense of any of the characters (One of the girls traipses around outside AT NIGHT in literally, just her underwear to find her boyfriend. Seriously.) to revel in all the carnage.ALMOST. But not quite. Still, as the old 'backhanded compliment' goes: I've seen worse... 4/10
This Is Awesome Movie , I Love The Gore Effects A lot Of Kills That Are Shown In This Movie Are Different Then A lot Of Other Films I Watched In The Past Bobby Shaw Character Was Well Done Very Different I Can't Say Enough How Much I Enjoyed This Movie Based On True Events Might Make Me Seem Like A Monster By Saying I Enjoyed It , That Said Movie Making Wise I Enjoyed This It's Now In My Top 10 Movies Since 2000 The Woods And The Camping Adds To The Movie , Creepy , Disturbing The Bar Scene Added More Creepiness To The Story , As The Outhouse Scene Really Threw Me Into I Can't Believe I Just Saw That State Anyways I Love This Film It's A Must See
Lots of blood, lots of gore and no storyline, that sums up Carver. Some movies try to be so shocking they comprise the plot, this is one such film. Carver is neither original, nor groundbreaking; I have seen torture done far too often now days, from Flower of Flesh and Blood to Hostel this upcoming genre has become main stream in my eyes. Carver claims to be based on a true story, which tells a tale about five unlikable yuppies that embark on a camping trip and end up disappearing. Well, actually we see them get horrible mutilated, dismembered and decapitated one by one with no motive. Carver delivers a plethora of scenes that contain blood and torture done extremely believable. The camera work is excellent and the acting is passable, but there is no reason to watch this movie other then to be shocked and regardless of what you hear, there is no twist ending. My recommendation is to rent Carver first because I think most will watch it only once.
i guess we all have to start somewhere, this is one of those movies that one day will be remade maybe by the same guy and what he has learned will make him a better director/ producer.as stated the actors needed more depth, i did learn the words to turkey in the straw so not a total loss. the inn keeper or what ever that PLace was has a good southern accent most likely real, he may have been the bright spot. overall the movie was a bit too dark to see , i wanted to turn on all the lights in my house. gore was too dark to give the heave ho feeling, but again there actors did their best, script wise it was at least 2 rewrites from where it could be a much better movie and that is the problem now that i think of it.. the script was jumbled never flowed, so watch it learn from it , it was an indie i think but i have seen some kick butt indie movies ...clerk, a dogs breakfast, so i know it can be done..but someone told me horror films were the hardest to make and this proves it
