Most of the claims in this documentary are false, and some are down right dangerous! (You CANT eat as many vitamin supplements as you like, you can overdose and get adverse side effects, get your vitamins from fruit and veg and they're completely safe though) The 'experts' in this clearly have no idea what they're talking. It's a shame because healthy eating is an important message, but they've warped this message so much. Eating a plant based diet is incredibly good for, especially making your own food instead of eating processed food, but most of the 'science' in this is completely false. And vitamins are good for you, eat as many as you can, but in the form of fruit and vegetables! This is in no way dangerous and the best way to uptake vitamins.

Like most food documentaries, Food Matters is incredibly biased. All the "experts" seem to have a unanimous opinion that pesticides, GMOs and pharmaceutical companies are the root to all evil, we can however, according to the people in the documentary, change this by eating healthier foods. And do not forget your supplements that is continuously mentioned as a part of a healthy diet in the film!Conspiracy theories explain why studies on supplements (they mostly talk about vitamin c) usually do not show any benefits; the government is hiding the studies! The music can be described as mysterious and I am getting the impression that they want me to think; "Wow, I didn't know that, this is so scary!".They have some good points like that doctors hardly have any education in nutrition and that people should spend more money on food. They also mention that we should eat more healthy foods like vegetables, and have about one sentence mentioning exercise being good for our health. The rest however, is pure nonsense, that cannot be backed up by science.Statements like "cooked food reacts as a toxin in our bodies", and "superfood makes you live longer" are mentioned. They do not mention that in some foods cooking actually remove the toxins and that there is no evidence that "superfood" is any healthier than regular healthy food like your everyday fruits and vegetables, the difference being that the "superfood" is a little bit more expensive and can be bought on their website. They also state that the drug companies cannot get any money if people are not sick, so we should buy vitamin supplements on their website instead! I do not want to defend drugs or pharmaceutical companies in any way, but if you want to improve your diet to become more healthy, you should focus on eating more healthy food like fruits and vegetables (it does not have to be the "super" goji berry), not supplements. To summarize this I believe this documentary to be pretty bad considering that it is very biased, not based on science and they continuously seem to try to scare people into thinking that they will die if they do not start to consume supplements. If you want to improve your health and learn more about food there are far better documentaries out there.

The documentary "food matters" is about the unhealthy food and chemical injection into the human body. These unhealthy food and injections have increased diseases like stroke, obesity, cancer, Dementia, arthritis, heart attack and many more greatly over the years. Medicine swallowed in order for these diseases to be cured causes more harm because it adds up to the chemicals already in our body. Statistics show that about 106,000 die yearly in America from wrong pharmaceutical drug prescription. Some techniques used were music to accompany images- the sound pitches higher and higher when the documentary shows the chemicals. Another technique used was the variety of voices and perspectives- different age groups, people and genders all showed concerned on the same issue. Statistics was also used. The documentary suggest that people should eat natural food instead of GMO'S and change their life style because it is cheaper, natural and more effective. Changing their life style in the way they eat suggest that people should eat natural home made food and not settle for junk food such as fast food sold like KFC, MacDonald etc. This documentary was effective because they began to prescribe natural medicine instead of pharmaceutical. Also the video suggests that pharmaceutical industry should think about the ethical implications of their product and not only money.

The basis for this entire documentary is that they food we put into our bodies is not good for us and we take too much medicine. So much of the food we eat today is, compared to years ago, is covered in pesticides and produced in an unhealthy way. We are putting all of those toxins in our bodies and our bodies are then getting "defensive" and it acts like the body is being intruded. What they are saying about pesticides not being good for us is true, but not everyone has access to fresh, raw, organic foods. They come across like you're a horrible person if you don't eat the way they want you to. They also talk about how we take too much medicine. Every problem, even if its a little one, here we go, busting out the meds. While yes, its true that we do take a lot of medicine, it doesn't necessarily mean that we are being horrible to our body. I had a headache the other day, I did everything I could to get it to go away. I shut the blinds in my room, turned off the lights and the television, laid down, and closed my eyes. My headache never went away, it had been hours since it started, but I didn't want to take medicine for it. Eventually I decided to because it was getting annoying. THe medicine kicked and it went away. I haven't had a headache since. Medicine isn't always bad. Later on in the document they discuss cancer. Charlotte Gerson said that our body is amazing at what it can do. While i do agree with her, I do start to disagree when she says that the way we eat basically makes cancer develop. If we change our eating habits to the fresh, raw, organic food, our body will be able to fight off any cancer that tries to form. That is just simply untrue. I know one person and have heard of others being really super healthy and still getting cancer. The person I know lives in Los Angeles, has money, and access to these kinds of foods. He's always drinking water, eating right, taking care of his body, and he still got cancer. I think that the people in this video are very one sided and need to look at everything from both sides of the spectrum.
