Meet Monica Velour
For Tobe, a nerdy, horny, frizzy-haired cineaste who doesn't quite fit in with the average contemporary teen, the pinnacle of womanhood is Monica Velour, a soft-core actress who reached the zenith of her career in the 1980s. When Tobe learns that his love idol is headlining hundreds of miles away at the Gentlemen's Petting Zoo in Indiana, he drives off with carefree glory, filled with the hope of meeting her.

Instant Favorite.
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Wow, who knew? "Meet Monica Velour" turned out to be a rather unique and charming comedy unlike most other teenage comedies. And while it may not be the type of comedy that will have you laughing your heart out, it is the type of movie that sinks right into the heart and sticks with you.The story is about 17 year old Tobe Hobert (played by Dustin Ingram), an awkward teenager who travels across USA in an old hot dog vendor van to see a rare performance by Monica Velour (played by Kim Cattrall), his favorite porn star from the 1980s. An odd friendship blossoms between the smitten teenager and the struggling former porn actress. It is the odd and unique storyline that makes "Meet Monica Velour" such an enjoyable movie, and the permeated sense of real life as well. But also the amazing performances by Dustin Ingram and Kim Cattrall."Meet Monica Velour" was really a surprise of a movie, and I was genuinely entertained by the story and performances. If you haven't seen this fabulous movie, then you should really take yourself an hour and a half to watch "Meet Monica Velour". This movie scores a rock-solid seven out of ten stars from me.
I saw this on Starz premium per view h.d.. I'm trying to decide if the scrip is anti porn, and against adult Entertainment in General or is it artist license, strictly for the drama of the situation. If it's just artist license well, the story is not bad.But you see the character, Veronica, having drug and drinking problems, know wonders she's broke. But you see you have mainstream starlets that have the same problem, that you see in those rotten gossip magazines. Top stars of the seventies like Georgina Spelvin and Gloria Leonard, when they retired they went to do other things, beside Gloria being was being the president for High Society magazine. But as in the Ziegfeld girl,1943,it was stated that those who become Ziegfeld show girls, that some got tragic live but it was not Ziegfeld fault. So it's really Kim Catrall characters fault that just because her stardom fell that she let her self go.I'm like Dustin Ingram character Toby,I am too a fans of xxx adult films especially those 35mm types. Unfortunately vivid video has stopped making 35mm shot on videos about two years ago in favor of digital video h.d.So all of Paul Thomas videos are shot on digital. The last adult movie I rented about two month ago was a 2007 wall to wall shot on film that one the a.v.n.award It's a curse word F-.It was directed by Brad Armstrong and released by Wicked video.Until the prices went up I use to read adult video news.I read it on the internet sometimes. It's gone down hill. But most of all I'm one of the few fans who are oppose the the laws against it.I'ts still not 100 percent legal yet.Blamed most consumers and the business it's self for this.Today it's medium gray legal.that is not enough , Max Hardcore is serving a prison Sentence as a result of being busted on one of his tapes, due to the Gray area.I'm a fan of old music too and classic films of the 20's 30's 40' national and international, this includes the dark side, films made under Hitler and Stalin and are own dictatorship. So I am like Toby. But if I met Nina Hartley or Tom Byron or Rocky Siegfreddy it would turn into a big fight cause I confront them in their gray market attitude, that give power to censors.Kim's Role is excellent as a struggling ex star , whom could be compare to Betty Davis, in the star.Brian Dennehy role as Tobe's father ,or grand father?. is excellent as a sarcastic character, who is a secretly watches Tobe's Tapes behind his back, as Tobe goes to Indiana to sell a hot dog truck to a collector, played By Kieth David, who's character runs a farm and collects Americana objects. If I was Tobe I would of not gone all the way to Indiana just to sell that, but He wants to meet Veronica. The owner of the Strip club, whom Veronica gets fired cause of the fight a bunch of rednecks had against Tobe ,for putting down Veronica ,as he is drunk, is a black midget, who acts like a pimp, Tony cox,the one who played Bad Santa.Tobe get a little moralistic in helping her to get back her daughter from her ex husband by trying to encourage her not to do a porn video in which he's offered 3000 dollars. He even gives her the 5 thousand dollars ,he got from the truck, to start all over again. In the end Tobe goes back home and ends up with the Japanese girl next door, who's also an Americana fan too.I saw this on Starz h.d. on demand 05/18/12
Watched this because I'm a Kim Cattrall fan. She shows she is a versatile and talented actress who can do much more than just Samantha. She can play anything from sophisticated Manhattanite to even trailer trash former porn star. She even lets all the wrinkles show. Her co-star Ingram is a bit too goofy looking to be watchable. Makes the movie a bit second rate. Could have chosen a more appealing nerd geek type.Unfortunately the story is more painful than touching.Overall watch it if you are Kim Cattrall fan, otherwise it isn't a must see.
A gem to watch. A master piece of artistry that not many movies portray. It comes with solid acting and portrays some harsh realities of the direction life can go in. You just can't help to feel sorry for Monica who is masterfully portrayed by Kim Cattrall. The good acting and storyline does an excellent job at capturing your attention and has a moving story to tell. Some situations are just downright too un-imaginable or bizarre which makes it really comical, providing a good laugh. It started out a bit slow but once the plot is underway it is a gem of a story to see unfold.
