My Way
During the invasion of Normandy the photograph of a slim Korean man in German uniform was found. It transpired that the man had served as a soldier in the Japanese, Russian and German armies. His incredible story inspired director Kang Je-Gyu to create this epic war drama.

The first must-see film of the year.
It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.
I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Sorry for bad English. The movie director, of course, is good at shooting epic, bombastic, spectacular and ambitious movie. I like Korean movies - they work hard on making good movies with reasonable budget. But for anyone interested in the history of that time... to be short: half of the movie, I did not know whether to laugh or to cry.By movie story line it looks like that where the Koreans, there is a military defeat: 1. The main character took in the Japanese army - and the Japanese got big issues on Khalkhin. 2. They joined Soviet army - and Germans almost reach Moscow. 3. When Germans captured the main character - Soviet began counterattack. 4. Finally, the main character finds himself in the Wehrmacht in Normandy just before the Allied landings...I haven't seen such harsh Red Army in overseas movies before, thanks! ;-)For whom this movie has been made? Koreans in this movie - stupid, cowardly, slightly cruel. Japanese - very stupid, suicidal and wildly violent. Soviets? Ice demons of hell and Vigil chaos. Germans? (Honestly could not watch the whole movie, but I can assume that meticulously cruel)PS I am going to slight a couple of prisoners Asians because I got into fuss while writing this review... (Don't take my review seriously because if you take this movie seriously you may take seriously my comments too). I will this movie to my collection.
This movie is far better than Saving Private Ryan (know as best war movie). This movie is like Unbroken but came out like 3-4 years before and with much more action. This movies shows the more details and points of view than any other war movie I've seen. This movies was so impressive that I actually did a review. After watching this movie (with 10 other people, who also liked it) it quickly became my favorite war film. The film is long and interesting.Good- detailed, interesting, good story, good acting, realistic, full of action, foreign languages are understandable if you speak them...ext..Bad-sometimes shaky action or hard to ell who is who, watched with subtitles since not in English. The bad of this movies can be ignored. I will watch it again. This movie is underrated mostly because it is foreign movie. If you are a real fan of ww2 movies and would watch with subtitles (unless you find an English version) then this should be your first choice.--- this movies inspired me to look for movie Korean movies.
At first glance looks like pearl harbor as an emotive and ambitious story of two friends, but no, is more than that, this movie in the protagonist, has weight represents most humbly I've seen in jun-shik kim (for what a lead role in this genre). If in every detail based on real or not made, I think not in 100%. but the humanity of the protagonist empathizes with you, moves and makes you attentive even though, the script is heavy, rushed and frantic, especially the start, yep, you get used, but only depends of jun-shik kim as protagonist. Excellent soundtrack, staging in combat, despite being modern battles, brings dynamism and more global and simultaneous shots you would expect from films of medieval battles as braveheart or troy, I'm not exaggerating. In depth script and acting, comparable with clint eastwood's iwo jima movie projects, in rawness of details and realism of scenes like nankin, nankin! and saving private ryan, no doubt. By the scenes of coexistence of the subjects when they're not in battle, you realize that there is nothing to chance, the aftermath in their minds, realism of the facts certainly nothing predictable, cliché o lightly, but after I notice the faltered and brake plot and slow slightly, only for that I put note: 9.In war film, the best are the most humane and this enter easily among the top 10 ever to me.
I watched this movie in my Korean History freshman seminar and clearly remember myself and most of my classmates tearing up and feeling very emotional by the end of it. Being a historical drama/war film inspired by a true story, My Way brought many realistic aspects of World War II to the table. Really made us think about the political and social relationships between countries during that time period. Characters were relatable and character development was steady but thrilling with one or two plot twists here and there. I probably would not have watched this film on my own because the genre does not necessarily appeal to me. Glad my professor chose it, else I would have missed out on a terrific film.
