Berlin 36 is a 2009 German film telling the fate of Jewish athlete Gretel Bergmann in the 1936 Summer Olympics. She was replaced by the Nazi regime by an athlete later discovered to be a man. The film is based on a true story and was released in Germany on September 10, 2009. Reporters at Der Spiegel challenged the historical basis for many of the events in the film, pointing to arrest records and medical examinations indicating German authorities did not learn Dora Ratjen was male until 1938.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Although the idea was good, directing was fine, and there were a few good actors, it's simply a bad movie. It's way too long. Instead of 141 minutes, it would make much more sense to cut it to less than 100. It's too boring, it never ends, and I just wanted to go home and do anything else. But I could't, because I watched it on a bus. Which was terrifying. And the story is terrible. It's not flowing, it doesn't make me want to know what will happen later in the movie. I also don't really care about the characters. Except the monkey. The monkey was cool.Lots of random scenes, maybe one or two funny situations. Then there are a few heavy, thriller parts, that don't look like a part of the same movie. Some unnecessary drama. Also, sometimes irritating music. Yes, violins are great, but that doesn't mean the audience wants to hear them every two minutes. So, it's watchable, and visually is great. But too long, not believable, without real story.

In one of the reviews I've read he/she complains having new flat TVin 1930. with Neymar on it. Maybe you should consider re-watching a movie ones again, because when you saw a modern TV it wasn't 1930., it was present, having Stanoje (little lame boy) telling story at his old age to another man, who wanted to make a movie about it.So... since you sh*t on the movie, which you obviously didn't understand, you should not give false information to others.Great movie, but the sense of humor is not that easy to understand to non Yugoslavian people, since the translation is too literal.

Well, I've seen this movie because it's about an event that happened in my country, (Uruguay) and am very fond of football. 1) It looks like if the championship took place anyplace, except in my country. To me it seems to be Mexico, not Uruguay at all. 2) I know the Estadio Centenario very well, it's a world football monument, and the capacity of the stadium wasn't as big as it seems in the picture, what is shown on the movie is the actual capacity, not the one when in was founded, in 1930. 3)A tremendous mistake : Remember it was 1930, and it's shown a plasma or LSD flat TV showing a game between Peñarol(Uruguay) and Santos(Brazil) that took place in 2011 and the famous Neymar was on it. 4) A don't complain about the plot , the actors, the director or the technical details of the film, but the errors are so big , that spoiled the whole thing .It would have been much better if the people involved in the movie would have taken more time to inform themselves of the country, the habits, (the Brazilian fans are shown as if they were Indians from the Amazon), the food we consume, etc. Ours is a beautiful country, why didn't they did it in situ ? Really disappointing

First: I just need to say something about last two lines. If you have watched first part of the movie (but that is told in the second one, too): it was Yugoslavian national team made from Serbian football players ONLY so that two lines are not about Great Serbia. If that was UK and only English players play in national team because all other refuse to join team. You could say that that was success of England. People want to share victories... but not defeats. If Yugoslavia was last in Uruguay and the last two lines were: That was the biggest defeat of Serbia... no one would talk about that.Second: movie is very good. It is based on historical facts. All about last game is true. But everything is not true... for example part about pimping the egg or marrow, etc.Hope you'll watch it and you'll like it. :-)
