Elephants Dream
Elephants Dream
Elephants Dream is the story of two strange characters exploring a capricious and seemingly infinite machine. The elder, Proog, acts as a tour-guide and protector, happily showing off the sights and dangers of the machine to his initially curious but increasingly skeptical protege Emo. As their journey unfolds we discover signs that the machine is not all Proog thinks it is, and his guiding takes on a more desperate aspect. Elephants Dream is a story about communication and fiction, made purposefully open-ended as the world’s first 3D animated “Open movie”. The film itself is released under the Creative Commons license, along with the entirety of the production files used to make it (roughly 7 Gigabytes of data). The software used to make the movie is the free/open source animation suite Blender along with other open source software, thus allowing the movie to be remade, remixed and re-purposed with only a computer and the data on the DVD or download.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

. . . (aka, the Pachyderm Plotters, aka, the Rich People Pack, aka, the Red State Rotters) either yearn to or actually DO pack on the pounds to elephantine proportions so that they can strip down to their lingerie (at most) and strap on spike heels in order to stomp someone's innocent little furry pets such as hamsters and guinea pigs violently to death while making their infamous "Crush Videos" as the only viable means of getting off their Deplorable Men Folk. This is all brought to you in Real Life courtesy of the U.S. Supreme Court, controlled this entire 21st Century by the Rigged Selection of an Appointee Majority from Putin's Party, and about to be doomed to another 40 years of "Crush Video" Legalization by Putin's next young SCOTUS pick, the Russian-sounding Gorsuch (UNLESS some Normal Patriotic Loyal True Blue Americans see to it that a few of these Fraudulent Fake Justices are quickly PELICAN BRIEFED). So where does KITTY FOILED come into this conversation? Animal Rights experts assert that Tom & Jerry cartoons such as KITTY FOILED inspired the Decadent Excess of Crush Videos and the like. From its earliest GONE WITH THE WIND days, Tom & Jerry's MGM movie studio has been a key Putin Party Propaganda Organ for the dispensing of Fake Facts, False News, Prurient Perversions, and Doom to any remaining remnant of Red State Decency.

Tom is wrecking the house, smashing everything in sight with a broom while trying to hit Jerry. The little canary in the bird cage sees Jerry in big trouble, gets out his cage and comes to the mouse's rescue. Jerry then chases the bird, and he when he's got him and ready to move in for the kill, Jerry returns the favor and rescues the little yellow-feathered guy. Those two then escape for a breather in Jerry's mouse hole. They shake hands and become a team, doing battle with the cat.The whole cartoon has a lot of funny and clever scenes. This is one of the better Tom and Jerry efforts and makes me realize once again how talented there writers were on these animated short subjects. This is "Exhibit A" why these cartoons were so popular.

Tom can't seem to catch a break-he not only has Jerry to chase (difficult in and of itself, as witness his monumental failure rate), but a little yellow bird sticks his beak in matters at the most inopportune (for Tom) moments. An important object lesson is taught to the two allies at a point of seeming success: premature celebration may be hazardous to one's longevity of health and/or life. Save the congratulations for a safer time and place. Most entertaining and executed short from when Tom and Jerry were definitely in flower. Well worth watching and most highly recommended.
