The Rookie
Veteran cop Nick Pulovski is used to playing musical partners; many of the partners he's had in the past have died on the job, and often as a result of Nick's risky tactics. But the rookie who's been assigned to help Nick bust a carjacking ring is almost as hotheaded as he is … and when Nick gets kidnapped, his newbie partner is his only hope.

I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Absolutely the worst movie.
I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Plot: Clint Eastwood plays a veteran detective who gets stuck with a rookie cop (Charlie Sheen) to chase down a German crook (Raul Julia.) This will probably go down as one of my favorite Clint Eastwood films considering I'm one of those people that likes Eastwood but don't love him as much as some people. The story is very simple and straight to the point which I like. Both Eastwood and Sheen have really good chemistry with each other which is what a buddy film needs to make it work along with an engaging story. The rest of the supporting cast also does a good job especially Raul Julia(may he rest in peace) and Sonia Braga who brought enough menace to their roles that made them convincing villains. The action is very well done when it comes with some exciting stunt sequences that rival some movies today. The only 2 problems that I have are the pacing being a little slow and of course the famous rape scene where Sonia Braga take advantage of Clint Eastwood although they don't linger on it too much unlike other films which helped. The Rookie is a fun buddy cop film with 2 really good performances by the leads, good villains, fun action, and a good story. If you get a chance to see it, watch it you won't regret it.
Good that Charlie Sheen pays homage to the superb Blazing Saddles at one point, but definitely towards the lower end of the scale in Clint Eastwood Police films. Raul Julia was a splendid actor, but he just does not look German - who ever thought he could convincingly play a German criminal? And why is it assumed that all someone needs to do to depict a Police Lieutenant or Captain is to get someone who shouts at everyone around him. Charlie Sheen's Father is entirely miscast as a very rich business-man - the actor does not look comfortable in a suit. Clint Eastwood throughout is good, but needed a better script and a less ordinary hand-gun (it just seems wrong for him to have a run-of-the mill .45 - or it could even be a 9mm/.38). Many of the supporting cast in fights and gunfights are clearly awaiting a cue before springing into ineffectual action. This should be classified as a Charlie Sheen film but Clint Eastwood probably would consign it to the back shelf.
Ha ha ha, Sometimes I think it's even more fun to read the reviews than watching the movies! The Rookie, another kind of miss match coppers, But "our" guy had quite an impressive variety of partners in his acting career. Since I love both of them, main stars, I was not fussy and just enjoy the ride. Sometimes I had to endure with much pain well crafted and highly recommended work. So that's the way it is for some of us. Our two heroes successfully take on the baddies and won, what more do you want! (oh sorry for the spoiler!) One guy suggested that you should not take it too seriously actually he used a double negative which would almost say the reverse. mind you I'm also pretty good at these things but I happened to notice it so wanted to share. You like Clint, you like Charlie...Go for it.
This is a Clint Eastwood cop movie. What immediately comes to mind? The five Dirty Harry films, right? Or maybe "The Gauntlet"? Possibly even "Tightrope"? These are all great or near-great Eastwood cop pictures. So you'd expect the same from 1990's "The Rookie," co-starring Charlie Sheen as Eastwood's new sidekick.Well, you'd be wrong. Although relatively entertaining, particularly the second half, something keeps The Rookie from attaining the heights of those other Eastwood cop films. As it is, it's just okay. The film co-stars Raul Julia and Sonia Braga as the main villains and Tom Skerritt as Sheen's rich dad.BOTTOM LINE: This is a mildly disappointing Eastwood cop flick. It's not bad, but it's not good either. It's somewhere in between. And the constant stream of forced f-bombs don't help (don't get me wrong, I prefer realism in pictures and can handle realistic cussing; it just comes across noticeably forced here).GRADE: C
