Fresh and Exciting
It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
I had read a lot of bad reviews recommending not wasting time watching this movie, but I have to honestly say that I really enjoyed "Bitch Slap". I think you have to take the movie as what it is and what it is intended to be, an homage to the 1950s-70s B movies mixing hot girls, fast cars, foul language, and outrageous action. And cleavage, of course, tons of jaw-dropping shots of double-D cleavage. The story is indeed a bit flat, but never boring and has quite a few surprises due to its non-linear storytelling. Visually the movie is stunning. The mix of slow-motion shots and fast paced scenes is superb and it is extremely well edited. Overall it reminded me a bit of Zack Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's 300. (No, I am not joking.)It is in deed a kind of a modern remake of the infamous Russ Meyer movie "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" from 1965 in the style of a Frank Miller comic. The three main female characters - a dark-haired stripper, a feisty red-head and a psychopathic blonde - are cleverly chosen and perfectly portrait by Julia Voth, Erin Cummings, and America Olivo. The acting is not what you would expect from a self-declared B movie - it is actually very good - and the change from serious acting to comical performance is well done. But what stands out are the stunning cat-fights and steamy love scenes. Stunt Choreographer Zoe Bell has done a marvelous job as the fight scenes look gorgeous. "Bitch Slap" is definitely not a movie you want to watch together with your wife at movie night, but if you like hot girls with over-the-top cleavage, sexy outfits, well choreographed cat-fights, and have a stomach for the sometimes graphical violence then you will enjoy this movie.I for sure did - even if I was maybe more staring than actually watching. It was a lot of fun!
Bitch Slap sees a gang of scantily clad ladies journey into the desert in an attempt to steal 200 million dollars worth of diamonds. If you're a fan of trashy exploitation flicks and love guns, cleavage, and women getting out of cars in slow-motion, then Bitch Slap was made with you in mind. It's fun, it's hyperactive, and it's a film that does not disappoint. Never promising to be more than it is, it succeeds in being more fun and funnier than one would expect. It's the kind of film where they take a break from the plot in order for the women to just pour water over each other. Many memorable scenes take place as a ridiculous but engaging plot unravels. I hope we can see more films like Bitch Slap over the next decade.
I'm surprised this has scored so low, now its not Oscar material, but really what sort of movie do you expect? Its a slick, tongue in cheek, entertaining romp which surprised me and left me with a "better than I expected" kinda feeling. Looks like the crew took some risks and in my opinion I reckon paid off. Been a couple of years since I saw it and I may need to escape for nearly 2 hours I'm going to give it a whirl again. The problem is its not the deer hunter, harry potter, mission impossible, kill bill, schindlers list or hamlet. Hmm! is a movie called bitch slap going to appeal to my guardian reading, yoghurt weaving, bleeding hart liberal mind??? The promo poster clearly represented exactly what kind of movie is was going to be and with those expectations I'm voting a 10.
This is a total awesome movie to watch -with not only cool camera work, tacky lines, totally tacky leads, but over the top sex action and nonsense that makes this more fun than the Tarantino movies that it is compared to.Certainly focused on women as eye candy, it doesn't try in any fashion to be anything but. There's somewhat of a story and it eventually gets there, but really - watching tits and ass in fine form will detract and distract you from the plot.Guns, strippers, creative camera work, split screens make this seem like a comic book and it probably actually is based on a comic book story - who knows.Perfect movie for those who aren't politically correct in terms of how women should behave. This is what the "Spice Girls" movie would be like if it was really a movie -not just a bunch of giggling girls. With totally ridiculous humor, over the top drama / action and women that truly bring the "Girl Power" on, this is a movie that is fun to watch - even with your girlfriend.Easy potential to be a series or a music video.I loved it.
