This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

I recently watched this film for the first time in about 35 years. It brought back some good memories, but mostly I was impressed with how much better the film was than I remembered. This was produced at the height of the UK/Euro Gothic thriller cycle that ran from 1957-71. To find a sci-fi film made during that period is quite something, especially when the premise is original and execution quite good.Filmed in color, the movie boasts excellent continuity, no small feat when you're filming out of doors at dusk with limited time constraints that a limited budget imposes. Unlike Hollywood films, which are produced in sun-scorched California under relentless full sun so that every shot seems to take place at high noon in a desert, this film makes the most of its overcast skies, chill air and mossy trees.Great cinematography, great cast, great script and great score. As long as you are not one of those perverse, alien life forms known as Millennials, you will probably enjoy this film. I did.

Saw this movie in a double feature as a young girl with my cousin. I've always loved horror movies, especially Hammer flicks. Pretty interesting movie, however, when they divided it looked like chicken noodle soup to me. I wasn't able to eat chicken noodle soup for years... Loved the movie, not the soup :-)

The island of the title is under threat from silicate creatures who were born out of experiments to cure cancer. The creatures feed off of bones, animal or human, so this tiny island community is in grave danger. It's as bonkers as it sounds, a sci-fi horror of such ridiculous notions, it can't fail to entertain genre loving fans. Terence Fisher directs and Peter Cushing stars, in what was a break from Hammer Films for the both of them. The creatures are rubbery blobs with one deadly tentacle weaving their deadly damage, they also bleed noodle soup. They move at a snails pace, which makes you wonder why the humans holed up in one Rio Bravo type situation, actually don't just out-run the damn beasties. But wait! These things can somehow climb up buildings and trees, the scientific possibility is really too nutty to comprehend! But it's so much fun, and there's Cushing (was he ever bad in anything?) holding court whilst others around him act at a level befitting the material. It's no hidden gem or anything, but if you like the likes of Day of the Triffids and The Monster That Challenged the World, then this should punch your joy joy genre buttons. 6.5/10

Although the science is somewhat suspect Island Of Terror still is one of the better products from Hammer Studios in Great Britain. The creatures on the island are soulless and scary. They would be as they are just large one cell creatures who subdivide like an amoeba.Working on one of the Channel Islands on a cure for cancer Dr. Peter Forbes-Robertson has created these silicon based big size amoeba who eat animal bone and leave the carcasses like the deflated balloons after the Thanksgiving Day Parade. They are out of the laboratory now and wreaking havoc on the island.Fortunately other scientists like Peter Cushing and Edward Judd are frantically working on a way to kill these creatures who are not just soulless but also impervious to just about everything they try. And it isn't like there's a stockpile of weapons on this peaceful Channel island.Carole Gray is also around to bolster morale for the scientists, especially Judd and to scream when these creatures approach. She does well on both counts.I'm flippant, but Island Of Terror is not a bad horror film and the coda to the ending gives us all reason for concern.
