If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Five young adults charter an airplane for a getaway weekend. Sara pilots the plane which includes one other woman and three boys with testosterone problems who vie for her attention by putting each other down. The movie consists of a lot of blue hue scenes and facial close-ups. The "monster" in the movie was apparently created by the Pastafarians who wanted to introduce their god, the "Flying Spaghetti Monster." The characters were bad and unlikable. Most of the movie consists of bickering among the people in the airplane. While the five of them are in the plane, they ascend into storm clouds and are unable to escape the clouds which are the domain of the multi-tentacle monster you see on the cover. I thought the ending of the movie made the movie Twilight Zone-like, however the poor execution of the plot leading up to it, the inability to use the twist cleverly in the story, and the otherwise lousy scenes made the movie a stinker. It would have made a good 30 minute Creep Show episode. If facial close-ups of Jessica Lowndes is what turns you on, then by all means get this movie. (Worse than "Frozen"!) The movie is rated R for language (rare f-bomb) and a "sexual gesture." That sexual gesture is one of the males pretending to be self-stroking a long shaft, which makes a statement about this movie
Without going too much into detail with the actual story, the movie starts with a group of teenagers going on a weekend trip in a private plane. A (not very subtle) side story explains how two of the teens both lost one or more of their parents at a young age. A somewhat decent start. But for the following 40 minutes everything that happens can pretty much be summarized in a few choice words: mysterious dark clouds failing instruments random and pointless fighting and screaming Then the next 20 minutes can be summarized by: Evil tentacle cloud squid Hysterical Teens fighting And even more screaming Then we get 10 minutes of the movie Inception (as it turns out that all the events are just the result of one of the characters imagination/nightmares). And as soon as the nightmare is over, and the cloud clears, the surviving teens nearly miss hitting another plane (which as it turns out is them-selves and parents from another reality)The movie ends by none of the parents ever dying in the first place, and hence this movie never happening.Just to be clear, I have nothing against the plot itself, it think it could be a great short-film. (20-30min) But I do have a problem with a very thin story being told over a period of 90 minutes, combined with somewhat terrible acting and even worse CGI, and then all of that being crammed into a small Piper-Aircraft for 85% of the movies duration.Long story short: if you want the story of the movie, watch the initial 20 minutes, and the final 15 minutes, and skip everything else!
Better then it sounds, The characters in this movie, were not that likable at all, so you didn't really care if they were are killed off or not, The were two good moments in this movie, that only stood out but none of it was really scary, there weren't gory or even bloodly. This movie had fat too many long slows scenes, try to make you warn to them, but script, makes you hate then even more, The creature was not that good, at all,it was notbscary at all, It could have been much bether . I didn't understand some of stuff in the plot, this can be little confusing at times. The twist at the end, was decent twist, 5 out of 10 average
This movie hasn't been rated too well and i feel it's my duty to at least cut it a little slack.Positives: - The plot is actually very original. I wasn't expecting the twist at the end of the movie either so in a way it kept me guessing how the characters would get themselves out of the situation, i would have liked to see a bit more of 'the monster' however you get the general idea of what it's supposed to be.The acting is average at best, but the characters created are actually quite good! The young HOT star of the movie is Jess Lowndes who does a decent job of still looking good whilst crying, and actually i liked both the characters of Bruce played by Terra Nova star Landon Liboiron and the annoying Jock Sal who was genuinely detestable - but obviously that's the point.Negatives: - The threat of 'running out of fuel' panics the crew, yet they're desperate to land the plane! surely running out of fuel would at least make the plane begin to loose altitude and therefore be a better situation than continuously climbing into black cloud!? - Both the characters of Mel and The Colonel are completely pointless to the story. - Some people have said it's "well shot" but i have to disagree. Whilst the director makes the small aircraft seem claustrophobic, the lighting is too dark and sometimes it is difficult to watch.
