The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;

Brittany checks her boyfriend into the hospital for routine out patient surgery. After a while he disappears without a trace. He is not in the hospital records. Brittany has a history of psychological disorders and appears to be unsure herself. Little by little Brittany finds clues to convince herself she is not crazy and her boyfriend is real. She runs around the hospital in a frantic search as the staff try to catch her.Brittany Murphy's doll face is in nearly every scene. The acting was good, the plot was so-so as the "is it real?" didn't carry through until the very end as the movie shifts from a suspense-thriller to an action-drama.If you enjoyed "Shutter Island", you might want to check out this movie or vice-versa.

I watched this film only to see Brittany Murphy and because the plot summary sounded interesting. As it turned out, those were the only reasons to watch this movie.While there are a few holes in it, this plot could make for a reasonably good film. There are some parallels in this story to Hitchcock's "The Lady Vanishes", just substitute boyfriend for lady and change the setting from a train to a hospital. However, all similarities to Hitchcock's classic end there, especially when it comes to quality.Murphy plays a young woman, Mary Walsh, who takes her boyfriend, Kevin Peterson (played by Dean Cain), to have outpatient surgery on his leg. She goes to the cafeteria while he is prepped for surgery, which is supposed to last about an hour. Several hours later, he's nowhere to be found, she's frantically searching, and no one believes her story. At this point, everyone begins to think that she is crazy and Mary even begins to have some doubts. The only other person who gives her the benefit of a doubt is Detective Franklin (Jay Pickett). Is she crazy or is there something more sinister at work here?Although not one of her top outings, Murphy does her best with the material she has, which wasn't much. There are two other 'name' actors in the film, Dean Cain and Mimi Rogers. Having seen Cain in a few things, this wasn't one of his better performances in my opinion. As for Mimi Rogers, her considerable acting talents were wasted in the role of the hospital administrator, Ms. Markham. Of the supporting players, Jay Pickett does a credible job as Detective Franklin.That pretty much leaves the weight of the movie, and its considerable flaws, solely on the shoulders of Ms. Murphy. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work.While the plot was okay, I thought the writing was weak at best. At times, the actors appear to be waiting for each other to come up with a better line than the ones they had to say next. In the end, there is just too much wrong here to recommend this to anyone but Brittany's fans and those who have nothing else to do for an hour and a half.All of us who enjoyed her acting and remember her at her best will miss Brittany. Although most of her later roles were not great, I still thought she had potential for a career revival as she matured as an actress into her 30's. Sadly, she never got the opportunity and her fans will only have fond memories of how good she could be.

What are we dealing with here- The Bates Motel? A woman delivers her boyfriend to the hospital for supposed routine surgery and within the hour the boyfriend mysteriously disappears. What's going on here? The hospital administration, other staff, another supposed patient's husband and particularly the psychiatrist all appear to be suspects in their own rights, respectively.The story is awfully bizarre and becomes even more so when the boyfriend and a nurse turn out to be some fiends. Forget the guy with the sick wife and the administrator. This is totally beyond the realm of human understanding.If things are bad enough, the embezzlement is poorly explained and I'm being kind in that sentence.This is a totally absurd, foolish film.

A total waste of space. Dean Cain has been in some awful films since his Superman days but this has got to be the worst so far! (Apart from that one with the dragon, and that was so bad it was kind of good).The film was predictable, boring and completely trite. This particular plot has already been done to death and even the 'twist' at the end - which we had all seen coming since the first five minutes - yawn, yawn - was nothing new.I can forgive an unoriginal plot, sometimes I even like the familiar old ones. And I am quite fond of Dean Cain. But, honestly, the acting was sooooooo bad!! Don't bother.
