Must See Movie...
While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Tha naked kiss was an interesting film, released in 1964 just before the surge of New Hollywood. The naked kiss does deal with a taboo subject, that otherwise would not have been popular. The film follows a prostitute who moves to a small town in New England. She abandons her "bad ways" and becomes a nurse, the film is about her rehabilitation. I found it to be sort of slow at times, but the overall story was sort of interesting (for being set in that time period). I believe this film probably would have been better off were it shot a nd released in color. Being a product of the 60's, color would have really lived up both the story and look of the film. Overall it is a decent movie, the opening scene is awesome though. When the main character kelly, played by Constance Towers, is beating her what i believe is pimp with a handbag.
This is a very innovative film. Because it is an independent film, the makers were able to have more freedom with the content. This film deals with the underbelly of society, including topics of prostitution and pedophilia. While some might find this disturbing, I find it refreshing, there is no use ignoring the parts of life that we care not to think about. This is a real film, with real characters, and a very real story. I enjoy it because of that. It also has a very unique feel to it, I wouldn't be surprised if contemporary directors like Quentin Tarentino and David Fincher pulled inspiration from it. It is important to have films like this one that break precedents that need to be broken.
The Naked Kiss which was made in 1964 is a classic movie based on drama, crime and romance. The way the story is told through many different types of societal "taboo's" is wonderfully brilliant. You are not watching this film and the whole time thinking what a terrible person the main character is. Instead there is a sense of wanted her to succeed. This film generated in the era of Hollywood's decline is a perfect example of other movies accosted with his time. The idea of prostitution, murder and another unforeseen things is expressed throughout the entire movie. The authors use of a film noir type drama is really pulled around this movie. This movie can also be seen as a great feminist movement. The men in the film are shown as people who deal with the same issues but are allowed to talk about it more openly due to the mere fact that they are men. The women in this movie are portrayed as strong while also dealing with the crippling issues that life throws at an individual from time to time. Overall this movie is a must see and really gets down to the nitty gritty of what life is really like for many.
Defamation can be the downfall of a person, especially if it is unwarranted. Luckily, Kelly is too prosperous to fall victim to these charades. Everybody has their past, as Kelly does with prostitution. After experiencing her revelation, she decides to put the past behind her and adopt a lifestyle complete with purpose and fulfilling motive. The only problem is the individuals she encounters along the way romanticize her past and force her to dwell in the lifestyle she had lived before. Needless to say the real charm in the film comes from the fact that a constant struggle is present in the world where people who are determined to prosper are often persecuted by those who can only expect the worse of human nature.
