Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

It seems that quite a few reviewers nailed this 'movie' for an incoherent story that leaves many questions up in the air. While the 'movie' aired last year, it was never meant as a standalone movie (despite being released for TV as such). It was supposed to be a pilot for a series. As such, its potential was never accomplished. Ty Olsson is a decent action hero and while the rest of the cast were relatively unknown, many of them had potential.I found the episode to be intriguing and a bit nicer than the likes of 'Defiance' for example. What I love about it is that it doesn't pretend to more than it is.When talking Sci-Fi, I'm fairly fed-up with humanoid 'aliens' that are nothing more than exaggerations of human traits rather than really 'alien' and whose purpose is to make the human race look profound and complex.Borealis felt, shortly, like a breath of fresh air. I still hope for a revival.

Firstly, I am not a member of the crew, cast or production team before anyone attempts to try that angle. Just check out how many reviews I have done, and that perhaps might give you a clue. This movie shocked me because I never even heard of it or had it on my radar and to be blunt, I chose to watch it just to pass a little time before going to watch a "blockbuster" movie. The quality of all aspects of this movie are superb. I know that we have some talent in this country and this movie illustrates that.As I watched it, I recognized rather early on that this was obviously a pilot for a series and the ending really locked that theory into place. Additionally, it left me with a desire to see the next episode, so I truly hope that this will get picked up and broadcast prime time.If you haven't heard about it or seen it, please do give it a view and ENJOY.

When I saw this on Space I was thinking 'cruddy low budget movie' but if it's got Ty Olsson in it I'll usually give it a try. Got to keep the Canadian actors working, and he's been good in everything I've seen (and considering the writing in a lot of what he's been in, he's doing well with what he's given).I don't need to re-hash the plot, it's a decent basis for a sci-fi show and it has what I miss in a lot of sci-fi. Firefly, Star Trek, Stargate, Andromeda, all series that are deeply immersive. That is, it's not just someone walking around with a funny look on their face pretending to be psychic or attached to a computer in their brain, but a complete 'world' most of the time that you share with them.Too expensive to make, exec's seem to hate that. This one could have been really good though in my opinion. Sci-fi and MMA.VERY good for a pilot! I've seen some stinkers that became big shows (House MD - the pilot looked so bad I wasn't sure I'd like it at all)Generally speaking if I like it, and especially if it's sci-fi that's more expensive to make (complete sets, remote locations, etc) then it won't be made. Feels like a curse.I am hoping that if it can get Canadian backing it could happen one day.If only there were a way to boycott reality TV, this stuff could get made again.G

Time after time you see new shows where you pretty much know whats going to happen next, and even so if the show or series is good enough you still sit there and watch just from lack of a better alternative. Borealis breaks this standard and has you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Whos coming after the retired MMA tavern owner? Who are the Russians going to fight with next? Who is going to attack the hot chick protecting Polar Bears from her tent. Whos gonna get hopped up on space meth and go crazy!! The versatility is refreshingly exactly what TV needs and Borealis delivers. Stop the bs and bring the viewers what we want. PLEASE!!!
