Highly Overrated But Still Good
Best movie ever!
Absolutely Fantastic
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
A harrowing look at the human soul.A man who regards himself as being incapable of feeling happy can only prevent his own suicide by making those he interacts with unhappy. The happier the acquaintance the more driven he is to make them feel like him.He is particularly motivated to cause unhappiness in people who are kind to him. This is a stunning film with brilliant performances which Hitchcock would have probably described as his best film had he made it.The phrase the banality of evil sums up César perfectly - and yet he is not evil but a deeply tortured all too human person. The film certainly made me think about the times I have deliberately tried to emotionally hurt someone because I was feeling out of sorts.Watch this film - you will never forget César, just like the unfortunate Clara, but the next time you are about to say something cruel you just might reconsider before you say it.Straight into my top ten of all time.
Launching straight into a mysterious and then thrilling story, it steers in a curious direction. It is very well paced, performed, penned and directed, and although the general subject matter is the average stalker film, the psycho's motives are slightly different. The happy young woman, full of life and future, is an ideal victim as it is happiness and life force (not the physical human being) the psychopath wishes to destroy. Unlike psychos in films, he doesn't wield a knife, and doesn't wish to consume, manipulate, kill or possess another human being. In fact, his only murder victim is unintentional and therefore collateral. From the primary victim he removes energy, her love interest, and far worse. From the old lady he removes a necessary illusion, and from the young girl he removes security and innocence. There is also his invalid mother as well as the cleaner and her son who fall victim to his scheming. In fact not only does he successfully remove the joie de vivre from the victims but he manages to seal their fates for the rest of their lives as the denouement shows him shrouding the main victim in eternal desperate sadness.Thrilling, interesting, and effective this Spanish thriller-horror certainly stands out in its genre.
There is no gratification for the viewer of this movie, no reward for sitting through 90 minutes of Caesar's bullshit. At least Clara had no consciousness of these moments, we had to live through awkward closeups of his ugly mug in the dark, his gross showering, and his being a black hole for the happiness of those around him.It is absolutely horrid that the only depth given to the character of Caesar is that he was an 'unhappy' man, whose perversion seems to be to see those around him unhappy. More often than unhappy though, he comes off as angry. Hateful. Cowardly. I am appalled that the filmmakers would only associate 'unhappy' with him, when there are a bunch of fitting negative words more appropriate. Calling Caesar a man who is unhappy and who can't find motivation to start his day is like saying he is a man who likes to take regular showers. Completely irrelevant. Being unhappy has nothing to do with wanting to cause pain. That being said, I started gawking when I realized that the ending was fast approaching and there was no retribution for Caesar in sight. What started off as a dark, serious movie ended on a note that cast doubt on whether it was taking itself seriously anymore. IT was one of those endings you expect from a cheesy gangster flick. Nobody anywhere at this point could be feeling any sympathy for Caesar so why did they frustratingly give him MORE pleasure? He was not an unhappy person, Miss Veronica was an unhappy person. He was just another one of the many bugs he set loose and should have met a metaphorically accurate demise.
SPOILERS!Sleep Tight is about a creepy man who works in a apartment building as a concierge, who creeps in everybody's apartments, especially in Clara's apartment. The creepy man Cesar has made a mission to make everybody's life's miserable. The movie focus a lot on him being mean to a lot of people. Making them suffer but mostly coming into Clara's apartment and drug her in her sleep, for his own sexual needs .This dude loves to make a lot of people suffer. The reasons is because he is depressed and lonely, this we can see in the movie back. We can see the woman Clara always being happy and bright, which makes Cesar kinda feel like jealous and wants to destroy her life, so that he isn't the only sad one. That's what I got from the movie. Even though he is really depressed and has a bad life, he is really a bad man, who gives me the creeps!! The movie was actually interesting to watch. I'm a person who doesn't like a very slow movie and this movie happened to started fast into actions.
