a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Caution: My review might be biased because of my admiration for Indian Armed Forces. This movie reminded me of a Manoj Bajpai movie - 1971 in a sense that both these movies did not get their due appreciation, but were really really good movies. I really liked the way characters were etched, the camaraderie between them, the tension between few, their reaction on the various events. A really well written film, I felt there was never a dull moment. Smart work in ensuring there is constant movement of characters on the screen, so you never feel the movie moving slow (like A Wednesday). The detailing... WOW - I've never been in a Submarine and I don't know much about it. Read some reviews where people were not happy about the way the events were depicted, well this wasn't a documentary. As long as you take cinematic liberty and still convince a non-expert like me that this could have happened, you are successful as a director. And Sankalp has succeeded undoubtedly. Yes, the VFX was not the best. Hell its a 15 crore budget movie. For this budget, this quality is justified. But yeah, better VFX (especially during climax), would have been something. The dialogues were damn impressive, very convincing. Kay Kay Menon is a powerhouse and when you give him a solid character and such screenplay, its a pleasure to watch him. I felt after his departure, the movie would slow down. But Rana did not disappoint. Rana's dialog "kya hain sainik hona".... amazing, goose bump moment. And Atul Kulkarni, what a fine actor and am glad he's got such a good role to play. And then Captain Razak's reaction "upar.. neeche... saala commander hain yeah liftman"... LOL. Nice to see the antagonist not shown as a caricature but actually as a real threat. Rahul Singh did a fine job as Captain Razak.Overall sound design and background score was really good. Special mention of cinematography - you don't feel claustrophobic though the majority of the movie plays out in confined space inside the submarine. Very well shot. And finally the captain of this ship - the director - for a first timer to choose such a subject and make such an impressive movie, really really commendable. Hope he continues to be different and makes many more good movies like this one. Best wishes. My salute to Indian Armed Forces, for your sacrifices. My salute to Sankalp Reddy, for reminding how indebted we all are, to the men and women in the armed forces.

I watched the 'realistic' Bollywood movie 'The Ghazi Attack', seriously it was an insult to the Indian navy and the people of India (I am also an Indian from Kerala). Indian Navy is supposed to be the hunter of Indian ocean, not a mere prey to a Pakistani submarine entering the Bay of Bengal all the way from Karachi. It is such a non-sense movie. Was it produced by some Pakistanis? Seriously, at many occasions I felt like the film is glorifying the Pakistani submarine and their Captain. Apart from this flaw, comparing with many other Bollywood films, it is an OK film that is why 3 stars are given. I remember a line said by KayKay Menon in the movie, 'emotional ****** fools', that is exactly what I would like to call the makers of this movie. Some suggestions that they could have used to cater better to the Bollywood audience1) Every half an hour, singing the national anthem and shouting slogans (ya, the only way to show patriotism in time of a crisis as if somebody is watching them)2) When the torpedo's missed, there could have been a sweet distribution ceremony and if needed an item dance by the girl in the submarine, anyway she doesn't have much part to play (Oh!! I forgot, it is mandatory for a Bollywood movie to have a heroine right? so, they could come in any form, the item dance was a good choice)3) We could have shown the Indian Navy even more 'pure' that they didn't destroy the Pakistani submarine but the torpedo by Pakistanis itself destroyed them, may be at the end, the hero catching the torpedo and swimming to the Pakistani submarine and destroying it (the director can kill the hero or he survives somehow, that is the freedom of the director), that would have been a perfect ending for the Bollywood movie. Again enough amount of national anthem and slogans in between instead of doing their duty.Pathetic.

I was really happy to see Hollywood level quality at the beginning of the movie, but after that, it became an average over dramatic movie like just another typical Hindi movie. It was tedious to watch the last 20 minutes.Visual effects are good, however the facts are really not followed. And, It really is not at all like the real incident of Gazhi attack. They could have at-least made the living condition inside a submarine correctly.. It is entirely wrong in this movie.

You don't get bored any time. You can enjoy more if you don't know the actual story. The movie builds up good till interval and runs parallel to history, but towards the later half, in process of adding thrill to the original story, the depiction becomes a bit unrealistic and hard to digest and ends up being over-dramatised! Nevertheless, the cast is great. KK Menon is once again phenomenal. Tapsee takes mannequin challenge into the movie. Rana plays fine. Conclusively, the movie can be called a one-time watch for the sake of portraying the pivotal mission triggering 1971 war.
