2010: Moby Dick
That infamous whale is bigger, badder and a whole lot stronger in this sci-fi reimagining of Herman Melville’s classic tale of the battle between man, sea and sea creature starring “Xena” alum Rene O’Connor as the (traditionally male) narrator. But the boat — now a high-tech submarine — is also bigger, and Capt. Ahab is as determined as ever to settle the score and take down the mighty sea mammal that maimed him.

Highly Overrated But Still Good
There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.
True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Its a thrilling movie but the CGI is bad and makes no sense. It also makes little sense to me that the female lead couldn't refuse to help the mad Ahab.
OK this is kind of underrated. I would call it a 2.4. I do not think it is that bad. But still pretty bad. This movie has an awful story line. and an awful ending. Not a 2.4 that is what Scary Movie 3 is. Still this is really what I call a 3. Moby Dick (1930) is a good movie. Moby Dick (1956) is better then this. And that is an awful movie. Moby Dick (1998) is a better movie and that is an awful movie. Do not waste your time. And do not waste your money. Do not see this movie. It is awful. This is a big pile of whale pooh. See Jaws if you want to see something really scary. This is not scary at all.
Other than Renee O'Connor in a bikini top, this movie has no redeeming qualities. The entire cast and crew throw all their SAG cards into one pile, tie Barry Bostwick and the director to a stake, and burn the whole lot. I know this kind of movie requires a suspension of disbelief, but this stuff will give you brain cancer !! Other than the first 10 minutes where Renee is parading the bikini top, this movie should be avoided !! How does Bostwick get work?? He has pics of movies execs in the hot tub with some underage action?? And they give Melville a nod as contributing writer. Btw, he has returned from the dead, and he looks mighty mad !!
A movie as awful as this ought to get at least some credit for its sheer awfulness, not unlike "Plan 9 from Outer Space".The story is occasionally interesting, although many spectacularly impossible events occur. The CGI effects are primitive.Regarding allegiance to Melville's famous novel: Perhaps the script writer(s) actually read the "Cliff Notes" for Melville's novel, as evidenced by the character and ship names, and the use of a few quotes by "Captain Ahab".As another reviewer wrote, this monstrosity should be viewed by film students as an example of awfulness.Outside chance: Maybe some young viewers would be inspired to READ THE ACTUAL BOOK?!?
