To me, this movie is perfection.
Admirable film.
a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Oh man this is garbage. I can't like it. I just can't. This is a horribly terribly upsetting movie, that includes poor characters , horrible p,lot and ending, and no character development, the story doesn't really wrap all the tight ends tight enough, and this movie just falls apart. Basically by the end of the movie everyone hates him, he can't get a good education and go tot he college he wants to his movie is on drugs, and hates her, and his fathers a jerk who is married and having a baby to another person and then he dies and has a horrible funeral. The characters just don't meet good resolutions. I want to watch a movie that starts out bad but ends on a good note. Not some sappy film about a teen who's got a hard life and dies at the end. Oh my god. F
I watched this movie when I was bored and I really didn't expect much, but this movie is emotional and inspiring. Chris Colfer's character is the typical teenager who believes that he can reach his biggest dreams, even though no one else believes he can. But what I find amazing about this movie is how real it is. They don't sugar-coat anything. The fact that his Mom doesn't believe he can achieve his dreams because hers were broken is such a typical thing that a parent would do. And I appreciate that the movie doesn't end with the cheesy cliché of him achieving his dreams and proving everyone wrong, but instead it ends with a tragic death and everyone suddenly realizing he was right. Because in reality, things don't always happen the way we want them to. I mean sure, the struck by lightning thing is kind of cheesy and random for a death, but I like the metaphor, of life hits you like you're being "struck by lightning". It was inspiring for people to go about achieving their dreams even when others say you can't, and to do it before it's too late. I liked the twist that they threw in that the pharmacist his Mom was going to happened to be the girl carrying her ex-husbands baby. But Chris Colfer's characters parents really bothered me. The Mom was so selfish by hiding his college acceptance letters from him, and his Dad was the typical dead-beat Father who only speaks to his son when absolutely necessary. And he continuously says "I can only say sorry so many times" because that's his defense mechanism and I feel bad for his new wife and future baby mama for even being involved with such a heartless man. I genuinely liked this movie, and it sure did surprise me. I didn't think I would care so much, and by the end it had me in tears. It's an incredible and inspiring story.
This movie was well done and actually brought tears to my eyes at the end. Some state that this was Cris Colfer's 'self-agenda' for gay rights and self-righteousness which is completely ridiculous. I would not classify this movie as a comedy in any way so don't go expecting that. The protagonist is sarcastic and pessimistic after all life has thrown at him, dealing with a bunch of cliché high school stereotypes which evey high school has. He hates stupidity, which any person with an IQ agrees. (If you don't agree, you should check your high school report cards)One of my favorite lines was (Carson) Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, why did I get a C on this? This is a great paper. (TEACHER) The assignment was to pick either evolution or creationism and provide background evidence as to why you believe that theory. (Carson) I know, I picked evolution. I said that it's obvious creatures can adapt to their environment because I no longer have the urge to throw things at students who believe in creationism. Right? Right? The main character is witty, intelligent, and knows how to stand up for what he believes in. Someone wrote that his death in the movie was insignificant and the end would have been 'just as effective if he went off to college.' They missed the entire point of the movie. LIFE Doesn't WORK THAT WAY. Things don't always go as planned. Sh*t happens. Its how you deal with it that defines you as a person.Strong message, great movie, great acting. I would definitely recommend this movie
It starts a little slow but overall,I like it.The casting is perfect and the everyone can relate.Everyone can remember the groups, clubs, and personalities. The blackmailing isn't done maliciously. The subject of divorce and how its handled in this film is done well and i think some kids could benefit here.I find the dialog between mother and son refreshing. Its what I think most teenagers would like to say to their parents and peers but don't.Spoiler:The float scene is my favorite, although short.Clever, comical, thoughtful, and entertaining. Nice soundtrack.Filming is a wee shaky. I wish I had the chance to see in big screen.Good job!
