I was pretty disappointed to find out that this film has a rating of 6.1 as it happens to be Doug Walker's pick for the third worst movie he reviewed as the Nostalgia Critic. I really am on his side as I find this to be a terrible movie. The worst part is probably how it's for kids. This isn't meant to be kid's entertainment. This is a movie that actually has a scene where a monster rips a kid's head off. Okay, there isn't blood, but it's still pretty unpleasant! I just hate the overall negative tone of this movie. It features the main character (Fred Savage) with this dad (Daniel Stern) who is really mean to him.Bad stuff starts happening around their house and he blames it on his son. I was appalled by all the bad language in this movie. This was a PG film that seriously used the words "piss" and "shit" a lot. There's this monster played by Howie Mandel, who is so obnoxious. He pulls pranks with the main character, but most of these pranks are just plain mean. He actually replaces a kid's apple juice with his own urine and we see the kid drinking it! It's just a very gross film inappropriate for kids. There's this main villain that appears at the end with no explanation on who it is.When he's defeated, we actually see his face getting ripped off. Hard to imagine what parent would allow their kid to watch this. Some people claim that "Monsters Inc." ripped off this movie about monsters in the closet, but it doesn't really matter as "Aaaah! Real Monsters!" (released between them) also has the plot. On top of that, the sets are very ugly looking. They're building up this magic world when it's just a bunch of stairs and boxes with random sparkles thrown around. I guess if the film was rated PG-13, it wouldn't be as bad, but for me, it's an awful film. Your kids deserve better. *

Like a funny movie once in awhile. Well the movie Little Monsters is an amazing movie that will make you laugh. Between comedy, old special effects and actors it's great. The 27 year old movie Little Monsters has special effects are OK but they are nothing like the special effects today. In one of the scenes a the main character falls through his bedroom floor. You can tell that he had something on him bringing him though the floor but you don't know what. In another scene A fire is started. Instead of the writer using a green screen they use real fire. Between Howie Mendel, Ben Savage, and Fred Savage. Most of the actors in this movie ended up making it big in Hollywood. For example Howie Mandel is one of the main judges on America's got Talent. Ben has been in Girl and Boy Meets world. The rest of the actors either are dead or not acting as much anymore. The language and script is one of the funniest. The movie is 27 years old and is still is one of the funniest. Howie plays one of the main characters and he is the funniest. The main monster makes fun of himself and acts like a teenager. The main leading lady makes fun of the leading male saying he was to stupid to understand one of their science projects. I recommend this movie to anybody who has kids age 10-12. I give this movie a 9/10. If you like a comical movie I would go and buy this movie.

This is one the worst kid's movies of all time and I feel depressed for the kids in the 90s who saw it; it's an awkward, confused, ugly piece of movie garbage that can rot in cinema hell. Fred Savage does't have the charm of most child actors in these kind of movies and comes off as mean spirited and idiotic. Huey Mandel who can be hilarious in other media is annoying and awkwardly cringe worthy. The pranks the two main characters pull on the other kids are okay at first.... but soon become too cruel, one includes Huey Mandel's character urinating in the bully's apple juice... (I'm not kidding) and to makes this display worse we see the terrified kids take the blame for the damage two main leads caused and this supposed to be a "funny scene" but only makes the viewers feel terrible and hate the "heros".it also far too scary for most kids and will even unnerve adults. At one point of the movie a bad monster rips off a child's head with a sicking crunch (This still kids movie remember) and throws the child screaming head into a cage with other heads there's no blood but will still terrify your kids if they they ever watch this The villain of the story "Boy" whose never explained and only named in the credits gets his faced melted off by a flashlight to revel a terrifying monster face. The morals are screwed, as Fred Savage's character never owns up for the damaged he caused and the people he hurt. His parents say they going to get divorce in a depressing scene but it never gets resolved as the film ends anticlimactically...avoid this movie at all costs there are light years better kids movies out there Disney and Dreamworks are proof of that and For those people who like this movie I cannot understand or respect you when you take off your 90s nostalgia glasses you see this nowhere close to being a good movie

I saw..and loved..this film as a child. Now, that I have children, I got the pleasure of watching it once again through the eyes of an adult. I was disappointed in what I saw. Like most childhood films it didn't hold up to the charm and magic I felt as a small one.Though, my children love it! I felt like the story line it self was fine, but many times the story would tail off or become choppy. Howie Mandell was pretty good in the film but sometimes became annoying. There were also some crude scenes I didn;t remember seeing. I forgot how much stuff was allowed in kids films back in the day.I would suggest this movie for children over the age of 8 or so. Anything under that would probably be a little scared or you might have problems with the language or some of the gags. Like making a bully drink pee.
