Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer: The Movie. This film is a mix of good and bad. So first I'll start with the good.I think the writers of this movie wanted to take it somewhere. The characters weren't the worst that a Christmas themed special could have. We have good old Rudolph of course. He has his love interest later on in the story. If any of you are expecting it to be Clarice, it isn't. The villain in the movie is played by Whoopi Goldberg, not a bad choice but here, she doesn't seem to be trying her best. She sounded much happier doing Shenzi in TLK. Here, she sounds like she is hardly interested in the part. John Goodman plays Santa Claus and you can't complain about that. Goodman always does a great job when he voices cartoons. Some other good parts of the film are the songs "What about his nose"? The love song, I can't remember the name of it, and "Simply having a Wonderful Christmas time" by Sir Paul McCartney. The bad parts of this film though outweigh the good. Stormella doesn't seem nasty enough as the antagonist. If you can't predict it, there's a change of heart at the end of the movie that I could see a mile away. Most of the songs are forgettable except for the ones I mentioned above. We get a few characters that are abysmal. Slyly for one. Why couldn't they have just called him Sly? I think one of the worst thing that comes from this guy is his out of nowhere song number. The best thing was seeing him cuddle with Rudolph's teddy bear.On a whole, this movie isn't the worst, but I can think of much better. Do yourself a favor, and watch the original instead.

When I was 5, I was 'cleaning' out the videos and trying to put them in order. Though I was failing miserably. My mum came into the room and I expected her to be mad. So I waited to see what she was going to say. But she wasn't mad. Instead, she said 'I have a surprise for you.' I was excited. A surprise? What had I done? She then showed me a video of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I was so happy and excited. I watched it immediately. And to my surprise I loved it more than I thought I was going to. Ever since, I have loved this film and it has been my favourite to watch at Christmas. Please do not think this is a remake of the 1964 version. It's actually better, with it's own plot! The songs Show me the Light and We can make it were superb and not to mention the fantastic Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney and Wings. While there are a few errors, factual and animation, that still won't change how awesome this film is. Also, with the voices of Eric Idle from the famous Life of Brian and other Monty Python series, and Debbie Reynolds also from one of my favourite Studio Ghibli films, it just makes the film a whole lot better. The only down-side to it I'd have to say is the Sprites of the Northen Lights. While their lights make the scenes of the night very pretty, they are slightly annoying and if that was fixed than it would be even better. But anyway, this is most definitely a Christmas classic and I recommend it to anyone who loves Christmas.

Okay, yes, I'm rather young, but I still remember this movie quite well. When you are little, this movie is SO cute! I remember getting this film for Christmas on VHS and loving it. I still sit down and watch it around Christmas-time whenever my 6-year-old niece comes to visit. But I don't believe that it should be compared to the 1964 original Rudolph Rankin/Bass Special. There are some things that I like about this movie that I think make it cute, not great, but cute. It's not like it's supposed to be Academy Award material.I really enjoyed:-Santa: Santa is so friendly! He has that red scarf...and he sings a happy song while Rudolph hides in the snow. He roots for our red-nosed friend just like we do!-Slyly: I don't know,he's cheesy and silly, but hey! Live a little!-The Rudolph/Zoey Romance: To a little girl, the whole mistletoe scene is SO romantic and cute. It makes me blush... Then there's all the songs! -The Reindeer Games: They are a lot more elaborate. And the reindeer sit like regular people! (I think, I haven't watched this movie in a while...) Overall,I give this movie a 6/10 because I grew up with it during the holiday season, along with the original Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus is coming to town, etc.

I thought this movie was very adorable, and I'm surprised it didn't get more recognition. It's nice seeing so many famous actors doing a kids' movie together. Especially Eric Idle doing the voice of the fox with an American accent- he's truly delightful...I could barely tell it was him! OK, so it was a tad cheesy, but what's a feel-good family movie without a bit of cheese thrown in? I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember loving the voice of the younger Rudolph. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more roles, or more of a bio on IMDb! So, if you've got kids, or you just want to giggle at how cute/corny it is, rent it or buy it. Sure, it's not a classic like the one with the Abominable Snowman, Yukon Cornelius or Hermy the elf, but it's just as delightful.
