Best movie of this year hands down!
An Exercise In Nonsense
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
The movie really just wants to entertain people.
A couple looses their son, Adam, when he is accidentally hit by a car just right after he turned 8 years old. Dr. Wells read about it in a newspaper, knew his former student Jessie Duncan and decides to contact her and her husband Paul about a secret illegal cloning experiment to bring Adam back once again. But what the couple does not know is Dr. Wells has more up his sleeve than the couple ever bargained for.Super casting, great cinematography, creepy soundtrack, good directing and a very interesting story make up this scary film. I personally don't understand why this film isn't rated higher! I will admit I wish the ending was a little bit different but they did leave it open for a part 2 if they decided to make it.I found myself highly engrossed in this film and will watch it again! 8/10
Pretty dull mainstream horror/thriller about a kid who dies and gets cloned. When he reaches the same age as when he originally died, things start going wrong. At not one point this movie manages to be scary, and most avid horror fans will probably think the same of it. And what's worse: it's so predictable. Robert De Niro urgently needs to do another gangster-movie, if you ask me, and needs to stay away from dull comedies and horror/thrillers. But I'm gonna be mild. Even though I figured out the mystery and the twist near the end way before it actually happened (as well as predicting how this movie would end), I'm not gonna flunk it, simply because the acting and directing as well as the cinematography was decent and more or less saved the movie. All the rest of the film is just average and standard and you've seen it all before. I'd say: don't bother watching this movie, unless maybe someone slips a copy your way and you have 90 minutes to kill. At least it's not painful to watch or anything...
In the movie Godsend, a couple loses their son in a car accident and will do anything to get him back. They befriend a stem cell research expert ( DeNiro), who makes a clone of the couple's son. The clone appears to be fine until his eighth birthday when a series of frightening events begin to happen. I was very disappointed with the movie because they took an interesting idea and made it boring. Cloning is a hot topic that has the potential to make an appealing movie, yet I found myself dozing off to a supposedly, "scary movie." I normally like Robert DeNiro and Greg Kenner, but they let me down in this movie. The music was lousy and the plot was filled with holes. The most frustrating thing about Godsend was that the entire movie built up to a conclusion that wasn't there. It's a shame that Hamm wasn't able to pull this movie off, it had an exciting idea that I was looking forward to.
This movie was bad on so many levels, but the main one for us was the fact that it contradicted itself. If the mother could not carry a baby to full term, as was mentioned early on, how was she able then to carry the "new" Adam to full term? And if there were no viable cells from Zachary, then how did Zachary's personality get into the Adam clone? And since she was pregnant, why would they have to move? They would just be having another kid, and so what if he looked just like the one that died? We all have seen siblings that look very much like they could be twins. And medically it just made us go HUH? throughout most of the movie. Maybe we missed something and someone can straighten us out on these 3 facts.
