best movie i've ever seen.
The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
"If you were ever accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?" For me, I hope so and I'd like to think so because if me living in a way that's pleasing to God is a crime, them I'm proud to plead guilty!OMG! This is a great movie! How had I missed seeing this? This movie is truly a testament of how we can overcome ANYTHING with the help of Christ! The characters are dealing with overcoming homelessness, PTSD, infertility, being a changed person despite being judged because of a prior incarceration, dying from leukemia yet still being happy and a light for others, alienation from family and suicidal thoughts, the death of a child and learning to not stay in a place of mourning but to live and help others, poverty and leaving a life of crime, trusting God's provision through tithing despite mounting financial debts, defending your faith in God to those who say He doesn't exist and being faithful to God and His principles despite being accused of pushing your beliefs onto others simply for sharing His Word and being threatened to choose God or your job. If you haven't seen this movie, please do! It's the best faith-based movie I've seen yet (better than Courageous, God's Not Dead and even War Room). It truly shows how you can love again, that miracles do exist and that we do NOT have to be the people we used to be or products of our circumstances and despite what we are going through, God is with us and will provide as long as we have faith and......BELIEVE! "Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."- James 2:17"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." -Matt. 5:44
First of all, don't get me wrong. God's Not Dead was a very good movie and I plan to see the sequel. However I stumbled upon Do You Believe and this movie was a couple of steps higher in my opinion. Seeing a pastor struggle with his own faith, seeing how Christians can and should care for each other and for the world, seeing people discover faith, or rediscover gave me hope. God's Not Dead was like an appetizer or conversation starter. Do You Believe is the main course, with more structure, more believable characters. Mira Sorvino's single mother character is compelling. Sean Astin --who plays an evangelist in Woodlawn -- is a callous jerk of a doctor in this movie. And I loved seeing Cybil Shepherd and Lee Majors back on the screen. I liked this movie so much I offered to lead a bible study at my church around it. I have the curriculum. We'll start after Christmas. Join me
I saw this movie without knowing its content, I was so impressed by the story and how the writer, director and the whole cast did a great effort to spread the name of God and Jesus Christ in the hearts of others. It really touched my heart first as a Christian second as a human. I hope that it can do the same to others , it will do that for sure to many people , something that i am sure about. If you are not a believer I am quite sure that you may consider a chance with God, he will surely accept it and if you are a believer this movie will, I hope, spread the faith to your whole life and soul. This movie deserves 10 stars for sure not less.
Wow... fantastic acting and well written. I watched this one at my sister's house with 3 families. We all LOVED IT. Lee Majors rocked in his role. The story traces 12 people as their lives are affected by a preacher's sermon. The characters include a drug addict, a criminal, a couple mourning the loss of their daughter to a drunk driver, an ex convict, a doctor, a lawyer, a EMT, and a vet suffering post traumatic stress. As the plot develops we see how each person's choices affect others lives. I'm hooked and will be seeking out Lee Major's performances in other recent movies by this movie house. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. you will be surprised at how great acting and a great story can overcompensate for a low budget.
