The ludicrous plot of Goodbye World makes Sharktopus seem plausible. Who's to know how a bunch of twenty-something's would react if the world found itself in the wake of a text-initiated terrorist attack (seriously?!), but I'm pretty sure this film serves as a record of how it wouldn't go down. I'm giving Goodbye World 2 stars: The first star is to acknowledge the half decent production quality. If only the filmmakers had had a decent script to work with, they may have come up with something worth watching. The sheer brilliance of creating such an abhorrent film deserves some sort of recognition in itself, and this is why I'm allocating Goodbye World a second star. Bravo!

When I first started watching the film, I was hooked by the concept of it all - the end of the world via mobile phones and people wiping out electronics and signals? Great! But then as the film progressed, it seemed to have nothing at all to do with the end of the world really. All the scenes were set in the woods at this point, and there was no real outside information about what was happening in the film. Come to think of it, the concept had a massive flaw that should have been noticed. How could it be the end of the world?Someone had created a 'virus' on a phone that sent a message saying 'Goodbye World' to everyone in their contacts, this happened to everyone on the planet, thus sending a message to everyone on the planet (who has a phone) - which therefore would have crashed the servers or networks. That's fair enough, that would have been fixed in a matter of days by people.Next, a bomb was planted on a truck with all shopping related items, ready to be distributed to the stores and it went off in a big city. Right, I get that - so they shut down the border and distribution for a few days or until they can trace who is sending the bombs in and planting them in trucks. What am I missing here? The end of the world? I think not.Great concept, bad film. The storyline wasn't explained too great and for me it seems like the film ended at the halfway point. What was happening outside the world, and more importantly, why?

I don't get why most people hated this movie. Maybe the poster was a little over dramatic and that made viewers expect a major apocalyptic scenario. The acting is good the story-line has it's little twists and the plot is believable. The apocalyptic scenario is merely a background to the main plot and that is done intentionally. Friendship, courage, family, these are some of the main themes in this movie. 'Goodbye World' kinda reminded me of 'Monsters'. It has that same feel to it and leaves you with a sense of wonder and curiosity. Don't be discouraged by the negative reviews, see it and judge for yourself. The rating does not do it justice at all.

Truly terrible. I have no idea how anyone is rating this 9 or 10 stars. The concept is awesome, the acting is good, the production is flawless....but the dialogue is so cliché and predictable and forced and contrived, it's unbearable. Not to mention this is a story about the meltdown of civilization (that's the setting) but there's nothing about the meltdown of civilization in it. Literally. It's just some people hanging out in a cabin in the woods reliving past drama and bullshit. The fact that the world is crumbling outside of their bubble is a total non- factor in the entire film. I rarely wish I hadn't spent my time watching a movie, but this is one of the few. I want my time back.
