While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
i have to totally disagree with the people before me.for one,Kristen Storms(?) cant act for her life. i am 13 and i watched Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century when i was like 9 and I still successfully HATED it. really, the plot goes nowhere, the characters are pointless, and the "cool and futuristic" language is really lame. sorry to pop your bubble, folks, but the whole movie is pointless. and not even entertaining pointless, stupid pointless! maybe it could be considered a good movie just so you could laugh at its insane stupidity. the best part of the movie either is the insane costumes or the ending song, zoom zoom zoom. definitely the song-- ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM YOU MAKE MY HEART GO BOOM BOOM MY SUPER NOVAH GIRL! definitely the song.it would get a one, but the song upgrades it to a two.
I remember watching the promos for the movie back in '99 and I wasn't to excited to see it, but nevertheless, I tuned in and I absolutely fell in love with the movie and became one of the biggest Kirsten Storms (Zenon) fans around! This movie is definitely one of the best made-for-tv movies ever made! Kudos to the casting department for giving Kirsten the lead in her break-through role. She stole the show and is so amazingly talented!!! This movie had me glued to my seat and I've lost count on how many times I've actually seen it already, but everytime I do see it it feels like the first time. Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century is such a fun movie, it puts a smile on your face! It's the best Disney Channel movie EVER made!!!
"Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century"I was persuaded to watch this television program one Friday night on late TV when nothing else was on. I figured it might be a pleasant surprise. It's a "Disney Channel Original Movie," meaning it is made just for the television station "The Disney Channel."My first impression upon the end of this film was this: "Wow, that's one bad movie!"Zenon Kar (Kirsten Storms) is a pre-teen living in the near future out in space. Of course, in the future everyone lives in space stations in space, conveniently overlooking "Planet Earth." When she runs afoul of Parker Windom, the owner of the station, Zenon is determined to be "incorrigible", and as punishment is exiled to the worst place imaginable: The planet earth. After several painful weeks of adjustment to her new surroundings, Zenon enlists the aid of her earthbound pals to return to her "real" home with evidence that the "respectable" Mr. Windom is up to no good. This movie is stinky. Laughably bad. It smells all over. Not only is Kirsten Storms an annoying little actress, but her one-liners are a "major," as she so fondly spits, "drag."I don't find the humor in this movie funny at all. In fact, to call it humor is to call "Se7ven" the funniest film of the year. The film execs that "OK"'d this one should be slopping burgers up at a McDonald's somewhere, because not only is this film mentally ignorant to adults, but to children as well. It doesn't show the audience any respect whatsoever. Now, you may think I'm going a bit over the top. After all, this is a kid's movie, right? Well, let me put it this way. There are good kids' movies and bad kids' movies. To name some recent family films that are excellent: "Toy Story," "Monsters, Inc."; those are good family films. They are clean, and at the same time show respect for the audience members of all ages."Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" shows neither. So, am I underrating this movie too much? I don't think so. I don't require that all family films be as good as films like "Toy Story," but I require them to be at least slightly entertaining. "Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century" is as intellectually-insulting as they come.1/5 stars -John Ulmer
Have you ever seen a futuristic sci-fi movie that adjusted the language of its characters to reflect what words/phrases people might be using in the next generation or two? This imaginative Disney movie does just that. Kirsten Storms is wonderful as the main character, Zenon. And kudos to those resposible for the cool wardrobe.
