Fever Pitch
When Ben Wrightman, a young teacher, begins dating pretty businesswoman Lindsey Meeks, the two don't seem to have a lot of the same interests, but they fall in love, regardless. Their romance goes well until baseball season begins, and Lindsey soon realizes that Ben is completely obsessed with the Boston Red Sox. Though she tries to understand Ben's passionate team loyalty, eventually it threatens to end their otherwise happy relationship.

Best movie of this year hands down!
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
This is a good movie and should be way more popular...it also should be a better movie if they took it more seriously in production. I blame the director...he was trying too hard to be nice.Fallon shine here and is obviously passionate about the Red Sox. Barrymore could not be worse. She is super cute and that gets you in the front door, but her acting is equal to Keanu Reeves. No...she is much worse. If you read the phone book out loud it would be more convincing than her ability to memorize lines and deliver a performance that is not simply being herself. She's that bad...but she's cute, and this is a light hearted romantic comedy so there is a lot of room for her lack of skill...and the cast her as "a professionally successful workaholic executive"...ummm, OK. As much as I knock her acting, she is adorable and has thespian royalty in her blood. The best part of the movie are the real scenes at Fenway and the ironic twist the the Sox would win their first world series the same year.
"Fever Pitch" is such a sweet and hilarious movie! I really liked it. It wasn't like most romantic comedies that are so cliché and cheesy. This is one of those few that will really make you laugh out loud (mostly thanks to Jimmy Fallon). The movie also made me more cautious of my actions, because I'm scared that I might end up being an overly attached fan, like Ben.Somehow, I found this funnier than Jimmy Fallon's other movie, "Taxi", and as usual, Drew Barrymore nailed her role, and Ben's friends also did a good job and were certainly very entertaining. This movie is one of those feel- good movies, and I give it an 8 out of 10.
A US version of 'Fever Pitch' - originally a novel then a film about Arsenal's Football Double Season. Colin Firth did himself no favours in the UK version which was laboured and neither drama nor comedy - probably because soccer fans in UK are so one dimensional. But the US version about the Boston Red Sox's winning season, scores heavily as a rom com, and a sporting insight movie. There are some really good gags about male fan sporting behaviour and a decent look at what women really want - well, the Hollywood version of it anyway. Good acting, crisp direction and writing, and excellent use of locations give this movie a very surprising quality - way, way above the rubbish turned out by Farrell, Carell, Rogen, Wilson and Stiller!!!
Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore star in Fever Pitch. Which isn't a great movie but was a good one. To think that The Farrelly Brothers actually directed this movie. It doesn't seem like something that they would actually direct. It isn't their best movie, but it is a decent comedy with two convincing and good performances. Fallon stars as a teacher who is obsessed with the Red Sox. Barrymore plays a woman who starts dating him and eventually finds out that he is a freak about them. Even knowing how big of a freak they are, she still dates him anyways. She is taken to almost every game. She soon is kind of heartbroken to the extremes that he goes to. Fever pitch has it's funny moments. It's the Farrelly brothers what do you expect? What you don't expect is so much romance. But that is what I liked about this movie. This movie was something different for everyone. I like both actors, they are both convincing, and I have to give this movie a thumbs up.Fever Pitch:***/****
