Imaginaerum
Imaginaerum tells the story of an elderly composer, Tom, who suffers from severe dementia. As he has had the disease for years and has regressed into childhood, he remembers practically nothing from his adult life. His music, friends, all his past including the memory of his daughter are a blur in his fragile mind. All he has left is the imagination of a ten year old boy. As he drifts away into coma, it seems impossible to get back what he has lost. Or is it?

A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
I'm a huge Nightwish fan. I heard about them in 2011, and have since listened to almost every song that's been on major release from Oceanborn to Endless Forms most Beautiful. Honestly, it feels like the Imaginaerum movie was built to go along with the music. The track list accurately reflects the entire movie structure.Though it's an accurate representation of the story of the 2012 album (The death of an artist), it's still kinda... strange. It's an oddity of a movie that one would only really understand if they understood Nightwish beyond their music.Additionally, the run-time seems kind of short if they want to create a movie with even a bit more information. Also, I'm disappointed that "I Want My Tears Back" was only played in a sliver of the movie early on.
Well, in a few words - I didn't expect such a beautiful work. That's a movie with lots of layers and it takes a few listens to Nightwish's album - Imaginaerum as well, to see what Tuomas is trying to say. It's a masterpiece. Surely, there are a few things which could've been made differently and better, but nonetheless the result is breathtaking. It deserves more than 6.2 stars. I waited for this movie 2 years, which is a lot for a 14 year old girl (at the time I learned that there will be a movie by Nightwish). Now, 3 years later, I am thankful for the wait, because I grew and was able to understand the layers, the concept, the ideas, the meaning of everything. And I am speechless.
I can't believe the current score for this movie is 6.2. This just goes to show that the vast majority of fans, especially young girls, who are of the "can't we just get along" mindset have absolutely no objectivity about anything made by their favorite musicians. The though of screening their latest material before buying, or not buying at all if it's not up to their usual high standard doesn't even enter their heads. they'll buy anything and tell you how great it is.this movie is horrendous, what little plot there is is nonsensical, there's no motivation for anything people do ("tom, let's you and me take a trip, who knows? maybe we'll bump into someone you know", is a great reason to go flying in your pajamas during a snowstorm?) they talk of past events as if it's something you already know, discuss neglect without ever stating how Tom neglected his family, and on, and on and on. Let's face facts. Holopainen is a movie buff and soundtrack lover, and this movie is simply a platform to deliver a soundtrack, but note that only the worst of Nightwish's later material appears here.As for fanatic apologists: I remember a thread on a forum after Tarja's firing where I stated that Annette Olzon was the wrong replacement for her, as she did not have either her vocal range or skill. While the thread had posts from hundreds of people, those who held a similar opinion were a handful only. I remember one post in particular, where a... girl... opined that having heard samples of Olzon's singing she initially doubted that she could fill Tarja's shoes, but that "after watching an interview with her and the band on you tube i've now grown to quite like her, how can you not, she's a sweetie".So her job in the band was to spread sweetness was it? that's what she thought Olzon was hired for? PR? when I pointed this out I was booed by everybody. this deprive artists the chance to learn from their mistakes, people will buy anything so they start to think they're infallible, their material steadily declines until finally after a string of flops it's too late to recover.please be smarter about your purchases, buying this movie because it has the name Nightwish attached to it is throwing away your money and support more products like these being made in the future.who would have even rated this movie at all had it not been attached to Nightwish's name?
Imaginaerum is currently my favorite film. I admit this film is pretty confusing as i had to read the plot on wikipedia after i had finished watching the film.I had never heard of the band Nightwish before this film and never knew it was a band till the end of the film. In the film the band do appear in the movie a few times usually performing a song. Imaginareum is an album by Nightwish and they had planned to make a video for every song on the album in the end in turned out into a film. This Film can make you feel several emotions and you may even find yourself shedding a tear at the end, it is a dark dream just like it is described as.I would like to also state the actors in this film are amazing and each gave their own special thing towards acting as the characters. My personal favorite had to be Tom ( aged 10 ) who was played by Quinn Lord he showed great emotions to the different experiences that has happened to him and overall a brilliant young actor. This film is amazing and i cant stop watching it, i would recommend this to pretty much anyone it such a beautiful and dark film
