At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Blistering performances.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
What saves this film from total boredom is the use of humour. The characters are all somewhat offbeat an don't always take the right decisions in the strange situations there in. And then you have the head character saying quotes every time he finds himself stuck in a weird situation. Not that all of this makes a great film: story is to generic, the final twist doesn't really work, mix of humour and violence should have been darker...But hey if you simply want a fast paced action film with some humour, this film will do the job. Nothing more, nothing less.
I am always suspicious about a movie when writer/director/producer is a same person....only thing worse is if he is also acting ! This action/comedy/crime/horror movie has a very badly written story line, and nothing can help to correct that. A kidnapped woman kisses the person who organized her kidnapping and hired her kidnappers .....really ? There is no closure at the end, in real life everybody should go to jail for long time...even the victim, Alex, because she killed one of the kidnapper with scissors !
Clarence (Justin Dobies) is a socially awkward guy who is infatuated by bar tender Alex (Elizabeth Whitson). He hires Patrick (Noah Segan) to help him get the girl. The plan is to kidnap her wearing "Nicki Minaj" masks and then have Clarence save her. Things don't go as planned. The first twist is at 64 minutes, the one we had figured out followed by more light cued twists. As the body count mounts, they find themselves quickly getting beyond a point of no return. The film had its dark comedy moments, but nothing too great, just enough to keep an otherwise boring tale interesting.Guide: F-word. No nudity. Something in the parking garage that passes for oral sex.
Get the Girl (2017): Crime Comedies can only work if it has great humor despite of violent situations.Be it a murder or a heist or a kidnap, all the crime comedies only goal is to give an ample dose of humor.Get the Girl is one such crime comedy released this year on net and let us see how it is..Plot:A wealthy young man Clarence (Justin Dobies) is conned into staging a fake kidnapping with the help of Patrick (Noah Segan) in order to be a hero and win the affection of a girl he's madly in love with Alex (Elizabeth Whitson). But when one of the hired kidnappers is accidentally killed during the charade, he's forced to actually save her life while not revealing that it's been a ruse all along.Plus Points:1)Comedy: Get the Girl has some good comedy which really helped the movie.Even with so much gore and blood,it never seems disturbing only because of the comedy provided at uneven situations. There are good LOL moments in this movie.2)Performances: Elizabeth Whitson as Alex is very good in her role.Justin and Noah Segan are awesome and formed a good duo.3)Twist at the Pre-Climax: Not the Climax one..Not at all !! The twist which shows up at pre-climax is so good and really is surprising.Minus Points:1)Lame Climax: With a good twist at pre-climax,movie could have been better but they gave another lame twist at the end which spoiled the entire feel of the movie.Climax is so poor. So,Get the Girl is a decent crime comedy with good performances and few hilarious scenes,My rating 6/10
