Too much of everything
A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Yea, I know it's 2018 and am watching this 10 years later. Watching one agent after another get snatched by the sociopathic psycho is like watching those horror films where you are yelling at the screen "don't go in there!" or "get out now!" ***Spoiler*** I mean, from the first FBI agent who gets snagged via an online date to the second FBI agent who KNOWS she is being stalked by the killer, is on a rainy bridge at night and STILL! gets into her pitch black car and whaddya know, the psycho is waiting in the back seat with his taser gun. Baaaad, just baaaad scripting.
Let me start off by saying that this movie is extremely underrated. I think the cast and crew did a tremendous job with the setting of an FBI cyber-division office. In fact, I do believe they actually toured one (I remember in the DVD special features) and set up the office setting as close as they could get. Props to the crew for doing their homework. That probably added to the probability factor of the movie as well. It was very well done and believable. Without getting too far into the movie (or spoiling it), I must say that the acting could pass as actual FBI cyber-division agents. I'm not just saying this because I'm into computer science either. The cast did and excellent job, without rushing the scenes, or pushing things way over-the-top. I liked how the head of the FBI in Portland, advised against pursuing the website with some psycho killing a cat live on a website at first. This is probably what the actual FBI would deter as well. At first the cyber-stalker, and serial killer, was no threat. So, the script did a good job in implementing believable scenarios, and not rushing into things, which would make the film illogical. This movie was very well done. I truly made a connection with the characters, and the story was highly believable. The acting was superb, the script was great, and the dialog was outstanding. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes crime, drama, or thrillers. I own the blu-ray.
First of all, entertaining movie, says a lot about what internet is these days. The only pricking flaw I found in the movie was that the FBI could have had the domain i.e "killwithme.com" blocked by the ISP, few got brains to use a proxy which also would not have worked since the murderer was blocking all non-local IPs. This could have easily resolved the problem, since no views, no deaths.Rest, the movie was entertaining showing how everyone is a potential criminal and how the internet is the place where everyone releases the demon inside. A little more character development for the murderer would have made this movie better, couldn't quite get a hold of the murderer's ideology.
This movie is not too bad it is entertaining enough its just if you think about the plot for more then two seconds it really doesn't make any sense. Also I don't believe Diane Lane can hold the lead her acting is shaky at best. This movie is about a website that appears on the net that has people being tortured and murdered on it. How the website works is however many views it gets the faster the people die. This movie was a decent enough watch a lot of things just did not make sense though. Its overall message though with this world is a sick place I thought was dead on. The comments it showed on the videos really was the best part it made it feel so authentic because thats exactly what people say to those things.
