How sad is this?
Beautiful, moving film.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Story line aside, the picture is stylistically and cinematically a visual treat. I guess there are some viewers who don't go for the dark and gritty look, but that only adds to the demonic flavor of Guerrero's (Danny Trejo) mission to take out the former members of his Blackwater Gang. I'm not too clear on why Red Cavanaugh (Anthony Michael Hall) turned his back on brother Guerrero, so that could have been spelled out a bit better.I guess if you wanted to make a demonic Western, you couldn't pick a better pair of leads than Trejo and Blacksmith Mickey Rourke. The scary part is that they look pretty much the same off screen. I liked the idea of the six pine boxes gimmick, and if you weren't keeping track, the outlaws went down as follows - Baptiste, Ramos, Darko, Washington, Snake and Red. Guerrero's execution of his fellow travelers followed a fairly typical formula, and I thought there should have been a little twist for not making the midnight deadline, but he was only off by two minutes. The film did everything it could to prove it's opening narrative - "The real West was a heartless, lawless vampire pit".
I just got done watching this wonderful movie!Trejo never gets the full credit he deserves!!! He was a fantastic actor in this movie.... I gave it a 10!! I do not want to add spoilers or anything, so all I can say is watch it! Great movie..... Some of these negative reviews I read....wow.... Yea, Orourke may have went off the deep end, but if any of you watch the awards shows, back when all the BS ( one of the reviewers wrote about) started, everyone was protesting (started by Leno himself, I may add...) plus, Orourke TEMPORARIly went insane as some call it, due to his dog passing, and he mentioned all of this when he stood on stage ACCEPTING his well deserved award( Grammys, by the way :)) So yes, actors are human just like you and I, everyone deals with a loss and such differently. He loved his dog n made that perfectly clear..... no excuse, but hey..... however, people.... that has nothing to do with acting.. The way an actor does his job, is for our enjoyment..not for us to sit n judge him because of personal problems. if he is a good actor, great let him know it n be supportive, if he is a bad actor, so be it but do not judge a great actor because he may have lost a family member, or owes a debt, u get my point..lol, so to the writer of that review...an opinion is one thing, but as far as trying to state facts, please get them straight. Trejo was excellent in this film and EVERY film he has been in and Orourke will ALWAYYS have my support!@
I knew what kind of movie I was gonna get, and I'm very sorry for all the people, mainly Romanian, who tried do to a film of professional quality. It is professionally done, good picture quality, great explosions, great sound, and 3d techniques.Stunts may not always be on top, but to make a stunt look good, the director has to cut it right, which hasn't always been successfully done, which leaves sometimes a slight feeling of ridicule.Whoever wrote the text the actors had to give, was ... not inspired, at all, and the actors clearly missed the point of what they had to say, no right intonation, even Mickey Rourke went down. Even some rare good quotes come out flat.A lot of scenes come with a lot of different angles and 3D special effects (which are the real positive aspects), but they are used for no purpose, there are no differences in intensity in the scenes, they just run by flat as the lyrics. Most disappointing is the lack of any kind of humor, even in real life there happens to be a joke, none here, and that is the main issue. The story takes itself seriously, what a shame, and what a difference to the Rodrigues/Tarantino, filled with references, which a lacking here too. Their crescendo directing of scenes to deliver us a mind blowing enjoyment is completely missing in this movie.Would I watch it again, probably not, or else for the only reason I managed to watch it to the end (in two trials) : just as a bad example to admire what it takes to make a Django Unchained or a Sin City
One can say that Danny Trejo is one of the hardest working man in Hollywood starring in more than 250 movies and so far hasn't been a disappoint to watch. Dead in Tombstone is no exception, action packed from beginning to end.Danny Trejo as Guerrero is typical of his bad-ass type that made him famous. Mickey Rourke as Satan was a good cast, his narration and popping in and out of scenes was cool. While I waited throughout the whole movie to see Anthony Michael Hall and to my surprise he was Red Cavanaugh (Danny Trejo's brother) all along, great character disguise. If you like westerns, sci-fi and/or supernatural movies then its a good watch.
